We stayed in Megapode Nest for 3 days in June'12.

1. The staff - is very courteous. Just imagine, the person who took our luggage from reception to room, asked us if we can manage to open our bags ouselves (which were sealed during airport security check). He got a scissors to cut open the seals.

2. Location - is THE BEST in port blair. Deluxe rooms and cottages are sea facing. Nicobari cottages are heavenly. Its situated away from market area, is completely peaceful. Early morning you get to see the fishing boats and other ships from right outside your room. In the night you see distant ships' lights and the rotating light atop lighthouse of North Bay Island.

3. Property - We stayed in deluxe rooms. The rooms are spacious, clean and smell nice with some incensed sticks kept in the room. Nicobari cottages are amazing, with shower panels fitted inside washrooms. whole area is clean and nicely kept. Please do not compare it with the Taj's and Fortune's.

4. Food - Food is actually quite decent. We had stomach full of breakfasts and dinners at the buffet. Food is not too much spicy, not oily at all and not stale for sure. People may feel disheartened as they would not get the "outside" or "hotel-kinda" food here. But for us (2 people in 30s and 2 in 50s), the food worked just fine. We enjoyed the food, and enjoyed the trip without having any gastric issues :)
The above description holds true for the buffet Dinner/Brkfast. Items on their menu are avoidable. We ordered one of the chinese starter and found it quite ordinary.

5. Bar - They have a small Bar also. They serve drinks in rooms. Liqour seemed to be cheaper as compared to Delhi.

Overall, it was a memorable experience to stay at Megapode. Would recommend to everyone planning to visit Andaman.

Room Tip: Nicobari cottages should be the first choice. Bamboo cottages are also good.

Very disappointed with the travel desk. We missed couple of places due to poor planning. Over all it was ok. The food was not that bad. Location is excellent. I suggest not to take tour with travel desk of this resort. Many good tour options are available in port blair. For staying its good.

We stayed at the eco bamboo cottage. Great room and awesome view from the balcony. There was no disturbance and it was very peaceful stay. However Megapode still can do a lot in the food department. The room service was pathetic as it used to take a lot of time and they never used to pick the dishes. Food was very routine kinds and never tasted extra ordinary. The good part was that drinks were extremely reasonably priced. Also if one is taking a buffet the trick will be to land up at the dining hall as soon the food is served as otherwise you will end up eating cold food . One other thing that you should be really careful is availing the services of Travel desk ( in particular Nagesh) from the hotel. He was a total quack and was just interested in making money. Thinking it is a govt setup we thought we will get the transportation services at a fair price however his motive was to overcharge and scare you away from using other transportation modes. On a related note travelling from auto is absolutely safe and one can take mobile numbers of the auto personnel and call them in the hotel only. And they don't charge extra for it. The receptionist (Ms Elizabeth) was nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Pick up sea facing bamboo cottage preferably room No 128 & 129

we stay 3 night 1st night in Nicobar cottage and rest 2 night in bamboo cottage, like the 2nd one comparability... rooms, location view are really good but service and food are not good at all...
service are like typical government servant attitude, on arrival we found our cottage washroom dirty and used, and have to wait 30 min to get that cleaned... food quality is not good, but cottages are really well placed, spacious and well designed but need to maintain...

Room Tip: have food outside.... and bamboo cottages are better then Nicobari cottage as per my choice...

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe room facing the harbour
