“VERY GOOD HOTEL : A MUST STAY AT PORT BLAIR”
Reviewed 19 October 2010

When I booked this hotel I was apprehensive, I had a lot of telephonic conversation with Mr. shibu the manager of the Resort, when I went in the Resort, the first thing that attracted me was the way the entire resort has been made so alive with lots and loitsof exotic trees, small cemented pathways and a very cosy room which looks like a hut but has all the modern amentities. The staff in Palm grove Eco Resot is very friendly and service is simply outstanding. At the rates in which they arranged our entire trip to Baratang, Havelock, Elephanta Beach, Red Skin Island , it was amazing.
shibu Satya and his team catered to our every wish and at Havelock Sekhar gave a truely ***** (FIVE STAR) service.

An amazaing Resot with outstanding calibre to go forwards in eco-hospitality in PORT BLAIR.
I have NO HESITATION in saying PAlm Grove Eco resort has given me the BEST VACATION of my Life

Thank you Shibu Thank You Satya.

Please go and stay in this Resort once if you truely want to enjoy the Emerald Islands of andaman.

This is my first stay at this resort, and it has become one of my favorites. It is a clean, well maintained resort with lots of eating and drinking choices. The staff is great, very friendly and helpful. There is a free shuttle to/from the airport. It's a good, solid well run eco friendly resort. The paduk wood is used here in the reception which is eye catching. Fishing from the roof top was an exciting experience.
I recommend all visitors to Andaman Nicobar to stay at this place. (price is also reasonable.) web site :

We stayed there for our onward journey to Havelock Island.. booked through makemy trip as I got discount voucher coupon for hotel booking and that was only hotel that looked good in Port blair among the available hotels. Its 4 hours drive from the city center and on reaching there we realized in terms of port blair its quite a long distance because the prepaid taxi was charging 400 bucks for a drop !!! However, on reaching there we were up for pleasant surprise. 1000 bucks per night for an AC cottage with complimentary breakfast, it was quite a deal. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms and the gardens were well maintained and thankfully there was a bar, which is in fact a rarity in whole of Andaman. When we complained to the manager about there resort being too far away from the city center, he offered us a free drop to jetty for our onward journey to hvalock. Overall I feel it is an average hotel with great staff and a good value for money.

We visited Palm Grove Eco Resort in December, 2009 for a week for our honeymoon. The scenic beauty of the resort is very good and the service and accommodation quality is excellent for their charges. We stayed in the Canopytop Bungalow. The resort has only one such Bungalow and we were lucky enough to get this on discounted price of Rs 2500 per day. Although the other accommodations are also good and economic. The hotel person guided and arranged the sight seeing and a vehicle for us. The staffs are very co-operative.

Good Things:
1. Natural scenic beauty. Specially the areas near the water pond.
2. Economic - For Rs 2500, you get spacious air conditioned room with bath tub.
3. Staff Response - Always eager to help and keep smiling
4. Peaceful stay.

Not so good things:
1. Away from the main market. Although you get all necessary things near it.
2. Limited food menu. Also, you keep getting annoying calls to take your dinner before 10 P.M.
3. Mosquitoes - Not in room, but in the dining hall.
4. Away from airport - Although they provide free pickup but not drop.

we bought this accommodation over the internet.
the internet can be misleading!
the pictures looked good on their website and the proprietor corresponded with us immediately. upon arrival at port blair airport we were met by a despondent man who threw our luggage in the van, grunted and indicated we should get in. we were then subjected to a half hour drive along bumpy roads, not sure where on earth we were going. finally we reached eco lodge!!
a place enclosed by walls with great murals outside surrounded by slums and banana trees and palm trees. Our room was not one of the bamboo ones which we had booked and paid for, but a concrete shack with blood and dead mosquitoes smeared along the walls, dirty sheets, no mosquito nets, filty dirty bathroom with a tap jutting out of the wall as a shower, no hot water, some old soap with pubic hairs on it. flies swarming everywhere! it actually looked like staff accommodation, not a guest room. unbelievable.
filthy dirty floors. rags as curtains.
we stayed in this room one night, were eaten alive and then demanded a better room. whereupon we were given a bamboo room - so much better! clean, proper beds, towels, clean sheets. but full of cockroaches!!
the room overlooked the canal which was full of sewerage and also a local rubbish dump.
the fan did not work properly and looked like it was falling off its hinges. we were told to use air con! how eco do you get!!
the dining room looked so dodgy and dirty we decided not to eat and waited until we went to town the next day.
we were miles from port blair. we took a taxi the next day and the taxi drivers tried to charge us a small fortune and got nasty when we refused to pay forty british pounds for the ride into and back from town.
We do not recommend this place to anyone.
All in all a big swindle.
