We arrived at 4AM, and our room wasnt ready, which was fully expected. We did not pay the extra to have it ready the day before so it would be ready when we got there. We went to the gym, and I went in the pool until it was ready which was about 6 or 7 AM. Our suite was great. It had a bathroom and bedroom in the back. A half bath in the hallway and then the livingroom and kitchen was in the front. The deck was awesome which looked out onto the the pools, the ocean, and Moorea. The employees were very helpful and nice. The brunch was good. I saw something at brunch that every hotel or resort should adapt. They had a container which had crispy bacon on one side and then floppy bacon on the other, so simple yet ingenious. The gym was not huge but it was sufficient. The pool/bar area was nice. I joined a group excercise one morning which was fun. There was a small man made island off of the pool which was nice to relax and read a book on. One night there was a French Polynesian dance, which we could see right in front of our suite. Anyway, this resort is a nice place to start or end your trip to and fro the other islands. Thanks.

Room Tip: Get one of the water front suites. It's well worth it, we loved just hanging out on our deck and getting room service or drinking wine and looking out onto pool action and the ocean.

Stayed in January 2012 for one night pre and 2 nights post Moorea stay. Nice hotel with a beautiful infinity pool and bar area, nice music playing around pool area. Friendly staff and helpful in telling us where to catch local bus into Papeete, much cheaper 200xpf each person instead of 650xpf shuttle bus or over 2500xpf taxi fare. Great location close to roulettes for cheap and good choice for dinners (pizza, crepes and barbeques of fish, steak, chicken etc) just to the left of the hotel. ATM located on the same side of the hotel just down the road. Local bus leaves from the other side of the hotel to the right just after first intersection. Overall nice place to stay for your Tahiti pre and post stay.

Upon arrival early in the morning I was told that there is not rooms until 2:00. This is understandable. Then the hotel manager said if we pay $60 they can give us a room. After paying thousands of dollars for a vacation – I must pay extra at hotels. If the rooms are not ready so early in the morning, how can they miraculously be available if we pay extra $60.

Another occurance at the Manava Suites -- every morning we were getting a bill at the breakfast table. Every day we had to explain that breakfast is included. The ladies in the restaurants are not English speakers so I had to go to the check in counter, bring my vouchers with me and start convincing people not to charge for breakfast. They did eventually charge me about $70 for breakfast. They said two night/three day stay gives us two breakfasts only… Even though the day of the arrival we were not told such thing.

Dear Giza1199,

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on this website.
Our guest’s satifaction is our top priority and we put special attention to all our guests’ feedback.

Our check-in time is effectively 2pm and when you arrived early in the morning there was no Standard Room (category booked) available but we did have Lagoon Studios so that’s why our Manava Service Agent proposed you an upgrade at a special rate.

Concerning your breakfast, you benefited from a complimentary American breakfast special offer. As our Manava Service Agent explained you upon arrival, if you are staying two nights, you were entitled to two American Breakfast x 2 persons so in the case you are checking-in early in the morning as you did, the breakfast is not included that day.

We definetely thought you were satisfied when we finally decided not to charge for your arrival day breakfast and also the last day when you arrived late for breakfast at the restaurant which was already closed and you required to be served inmediately from the lunch menu, we not only accepted to serve you but we even applied a complimentary breakfast allowance on your meal.

We strive to deliver the highest level of service to all our guests and we regret to know that despite our efforts we did not meet your expectations.

Thank you again for your comments and for staying with us,

Sincerely,

The Management

On our first day the maid tried coming into our room without even knocking.Luckily, we had the security latch. We also found 100000 franks and after returning it, it would have been nice for perhaps a free dinner or upgrade as a reward. Zilch! Also, the shower goes on by itself intermittently all day & night and as a light sleeper I kept waking up thinking someone was in our room. The shower stalls were not installed properly so the water does not drain well you will be showering with your feet in dirty water and there is stagnant water remaining. Room 3203. On one night 1/19/12 there was no water to shower, brush our teeth or drink anything. I called the front desk and told them that we had no water. The employee said to just wait until they figure out why. I waited about an hour and called again and the employee was irritated and said to just wait until they call us. Needless to say they never called and I ended up falling asleep very frustrated.Basically the water in shower goes on when you don't want it to but no water when you need it. In addition, we wanted to inquire about activities in Papeete but many times no one was at the desk except for a post it note on the desk with a number to call. Problem is no one answers that number and the hotel still charges for the call. Not worth the price unless you are going to stay in the pool area all day to swim & to enjoy the view and do not need to eat, and require nothing else. The prices at the restaurant was very high and friends that ate there said the food was "terrible, utterly shameful". My son came upon some lunch wagons that sold pizza, barbecued chicken, & steak at very reasonable prices approx 1000 f to the left of the hotel about a 4-5 minutes away and the taste and service was superb so that was good. I liked that we could get free Internet except that it did not catch in our room and we would have to be in the front desk building for it to catch but it was so hot in there. A little disappointed:(
