“Fiji, Fiji, Fiji”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

I have never written a review on the many trips we've been on but I've never experienced a trip like the one to Savusavu, Fiji where we stayed at JMC. The property is gorgeous, the staff is friendly, and the Bula club makes the trip! The food was fresh and yummy. I felt completely satisfied after each meal without the bloat of too much salt. Everything was fresh... My husband and I enjoyed a lot of peacefulness and alone time as our two young girls were in the Bula Club from the start. Upon arrival, we joked that this trip was for them as they had participated in kayaking (with blankie in tow), snorkeling, and all the activities at the club within the first few hours. My husband and I simply looked at each other and said, "what are we going to do?" Well, we found ourselves snorkeling a few times every day, deep sea fishing and catching enough fish to feed the resort and the village, relaxing with massages and foot scrubs, and drinking by the pool. Our favorite spot was the lounge right along the water, watching the hermit crabs climb around a nearby tree. Speaking of hermit crabs, our girls LOVED the crabs and holding the races. While on the private island, we collected sea cucumbers, blue starfish, and many, many hermit crabs and held several races. The various excursions were all great. I do not regret spending any time participating in these excursions as I often felt in the past. Touring and participating in the village activities was fantastic, the hike to the waterfall was so much fun, and I brought home a few black pearls from the pearl farm. Okay, the bad news: while this eco lodge is luxury, me and my youngest daughter were creeped out by the flying cockroaches. There's not much more the staff can do to keep these critters away but I was ready to go after waking up to one in my hair on the last night. The other drawback to the entire trip was saying goodbye. Our girls were upset to say goodbye to Leba at the end and still often talk about her and wanting to see her again. My youngest had a dream about being with Leba again and this is several months after our trip. We LOVE JMC and the staff and will return again, especially since our daughter has informed us that she will live there one day...

Room Tip: all the rooms are great and it was nice to wake up listening to the ocean on one side and tropical b...

What an absolutely beautiful resort in every way. In our first 1/2 hour after arrival we had a welcome drink, kids whisked away for a tour of the Bula club, received a full run down of the resort's operation and personal tour, selected a pillow from the "pillow library" and were sitting on the verandah of our bure enjoying a complimentary foot scrub! Staff are fantastic, friendly, will do anything to help you and fully embrace the resort's culture and eco-friendly approach. Grounds are impeccably maintained, with staff even out with their raincoats attending to the gardens. Rooms are beautiful with a true tropical island ambience. Food is absolutely amazing without going over the top, plenty of variety for adults and kids alike. Bula club had excellent facilities and nurturing staff. Plenty of activities for adults and kids, each day a themed schedule is provided so you can participate in as little or as much as you want. Scuba diving operation was brilliant and underwater world incredible without having to travel too far from the resort, even the snorkelling off the pier was amazing. Oh, and the massage in the beach bures was to die for.

Travelled with 2 young kids. We had a nanny per child. We got to spend a lot of time with our kids (with help!) and still go on adult snorkelling trips and have dinner and some relaxation alone together every single day, knowing they were in good hands! The staff were fantastic! The food was excellent. We booked to return again in 12 months as soon as we returned home.

As everything is included, it works out good value, despite the steep up front cost

Room Tip: They are all goo. YOu spend very little time in the rooms, so no need for ocean view.

Just amazing feeling to be here again. I don't have kids, but this would be the place. Bula Camp and nannies provided AT NO CHARGE for all! Adults only areas make this very peaceful. Food has been "over the top" and 3 courses at each meal are difficult to choose OR turn away. Always gain 2 lbs/day when here. Greg(manager) seems to have this thing "just right". Bures are very spacious. and of course, dive shop pros are the best in Fiji, even if the viz wasn't so good and am hoping the coral comes back soon.

We recently spent a week at Jean-Michel COusteau. We went without many expectations (we just needed a break) and were surprised and delighted to discover that we had a full time nanny (included in the price of accommodation) for our baby. We were also delighted by the high standard of food (Fijian food is often quite stodgy but the chef here turns out incredibly fresh, innovative food at every meal). The staff are friendly and discrete andf the kids club means you have help with your own children and really dont have to see much of anyone else's! The main pool does not allow children so it feels like an adults' resort in many ways.

Room Tip: Go for the OCean view bure. Why come all the way to Fiji without having a water view?
