“Children's Paradise”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

Excellent hotel, brilliant for kids especially the waterpark. Animation team brilliant i really enjoyed water areobics everyday in the wave pool and my son enjoyed the volleyball. Not much going on at night time for teenagers they were bit bored so ventured out most of nights. Most of the staff very friendly just the odd one or two that dont even look at you. The rooms cleaned and towels changed evryday, and having two very untidy teenagers our housekeeper moahmed did an excellent job. My only downside was the food and horrible little plastic cups. Not much chose food wise for english, i ended up living on chicken and rice all holiday, kids lived on chips, we all lost a few pounds though haha. The horrid plastic cups awful, i was given a cup of tea in these a few times so ended up buying my own cup and using that. When children were getting there drinks in them they had to get two at a time because there so small. All in all had a lovely holiday, not sure if would return mainly because of food. But for waterpark alone its a childrens paradise. Best tip i could offer anyone going make sure you take waterproof shoes for around the complex, ceramic tiles everywere and the heat makes them very very hot, like walking on hot coal so beware!!

Room Tip: Rooms away from the hotel peaceful and quiet.

Hi, stayed at the Aqua blu from 14th -22nd June. Well what can i say .... its the staff which make your stay, theyre all hard working and do so with a smile on their faces, everyone is so friendly and my son and nephew both aged 8 loved it.
We stated in room 7126 our housekeeper was great, fresh towels every day,our beds were spotless i spoke to guest relations about him as he really is worth his weight in gold. I left him a tip on the bed he put it into the drawer he didnt realise it was for him....bless him. There were 5 of us staying in our room, the children had bunk beds, they had seen better days and the top bunk should of had a winch instead of a ladder as it was very high but other than that spotlessly clean and tidy every day.The aqua park was amazing, the children loved it, the pools were kept clean the only complaint about the pool area is that other guests Russians and Polish have no idea how to queue, on more than 1 occasision i stepped in as they were rather forceful towards my children who were patiently waiting their turn for a rubber ring, grown men should not try to snatch rubber rings or push past children, its disgraceful, they have no manners and the way they address the hotel staff is disgusting, they never say please or thankyou and i found that appauling, the staff are so proffesional they just smiled and ignored the rudeness something i could never do.Im planning on returning June next year and have a girly holiday just me my niece and my best friend leave the husband and kids at home .......bliss peace and quiet. There is so much to see and do plenty of trips to go on i would reccomend Fantasia its was amazing and the rep which arranged it (Ahmed) was a star, no hard sell just straight to the point a total gent. In a nut shell we all enjoyed our time it was a very tearful goodbye from the children who didnt want to leave and if you make my children happy thats me happy. A big hello to the staff in the asian resturant my boys loved their london accents lol, plus Leema from the beauty salon, again no hard sell just a lovely woman. Looking forward to returning in 2013, thankyou Aqua Blu for a brilliant holiday your staff are a credit to you. xx

Returned back from Aqua Blu Monday 9th July 2012
Where do I start?
I have been to Egypt twice before and aware that the journey from the airport to hotel is not pleasant scenery. My last visit was 2006, however it was worse than I remembered. Derelict, open tips with locals scavenging, abundance of unfinished buildings etc, but having previously stayed at “The Ritz Carlton” and “Four Seasons” I knew once we got to the hotel all would be ok.
How wrong was I!!!

I had read lots of comments on trip advisor about this hotel and now feel I must have been a guest at a “different” hotel.

Reception staff: Rude and incompetent especially Mohammed Alsayed – He should NOT have a job in reception welcoming guests.
We had paid extra for an upgraded room and asked for a second floor not ground floor- due to having a young daughter)
First room- pleasant but ground floor
Second room- An utter disgrace, tired, dirty and the standard of Pontins
Third room- OK accepted it as so tired and now midnight. However, the decor/interior was tired, un-clean and light fittings hanging out as well as a small crack in patio door.

Aqua Blu is not a hotel but a park with rooms and is also open to the public, so weekends, you struggle for a bed by any pool.

Take towels – You get just 3 small towels ( one for each guest) that wont wrap round an adult and one very small hand towel.

Hotel supplies pool towels- Take your own! Each evening the cleaner would leave 3 new towels ready for the following days sunbathing. I could smell that they were not fresh. It was confirmed by a staff member that they are just dried and not laundered daily, so unless you want to share the sweat and bodily fluids from another guest, take your own. Quite disgusting they were.

Slides/Kids club is fantastic for the kids. A special mention to “Nana Georgia” who went over and beyond her hours of work to ensure the kids were happy stimulated and felt welcome. She was amazing, friendly and made good fun for all the children. The children are safe at kids club and allows us adults time to have some relaxation. Mary and the rest of the Animation team work so hard too and were all fabulous with the children. Nana even went in her own time to say goodbye to the children who were leaving for home. That would not happen in the UK. A total credit to the hotel and she would be welcomed at any hotel with the skills she has.

Pools: Plenty of beds, however they now need replacing as looking tired and many have screws sticking out or do not function correctly. You get mithered ALL day by a man attempting to sell you 3-day-old newspapers for an equivalent of £4 (costs 30p in UK) then he comes and asks for it back to re-sell, same with magazines. In addition, constant mither from SPA and beauty salon people- annoying and on occasions seen people pretend to be asleep to avoid them, but they will “wake” you.

Around pool areas- Very slippy and very hot and the pools are filthy with grime and tide marks. Can understand how so many people become ill. Life guards, just sit and chat all day.

In the 11 days, we were there, kids pool had 7 yes 7 occasions of human excrement in it and excrement smeared down the slide! In UK, the pool would be shut. Egypt, the pool attendant just wiped it in with his feet and scooped the floating poo in a cola cup. Mortified was an under statement and many guests were horrified and complained. Nothing changed despite the complaints! Also the toilets are filthy with poo on floor and walls and no toilet paper despite asking and asking for it. Is this the reason why some guests poo in the pool? DISGUSTING.

Bad tummies- Many guests (including me) had bad tummies- take your own remedies as a trip for tablets cost £14 to the pharmacist on the complex!! In addition, the pharmacists offer the male guests Viagra for English money of £1. Many guests were again offered this and horrified as pharmacist is quite pushy and persistant. Is this legal?

Food- All restaurants have same menu, just different place to eat. Bland and boring, kids live on pizza/chips.Cater for Russians.
McDonalds deliver to main gate- HUGE portions compared to UK. They state you have to call McDonalds from reception; quite a long walk depending on were your room is. On checking out, we discover they charged us for the phone call from reception! So could have phoned from our room that was right by main entrance. BEWARE, McDonalds staff will say they have no change to give you back!! Make sure you have plenty of change or the correct money.

Trips- We went on quad bikes/camel ride and show/BBQ in desert. This was amazing and well worth it.
We also went to see Dolphin show- which was OK. Complex for the dolphin show was scruffy and the RSPCA in the UK would not have been impressed with how the monkeys outside in a cage were living. Quite upsetting.

Prays- Are VERY loud throughout the day you do not notice but 3AM the first few nights was distressing.

Water- is bottled but never cold

Got woke up several nights by arguments between Asian teenagers and other guests. This was a problem with many other guests as the small children of these families were left unsupervised in the restaurants which they caused havoc, food and drinks being thrown etc.
Russians were rude (adults and kids) they did not believe in queuing and the women would stare so much at other women(Weird), blatantly looking me up and down which I found uncomfortable.

The hotel in my opinion is a 3*, there is no attention to detail, scruffy and very dirty in most parts. The staffs are not trained or have the understanding of how guests should be treated. The management are worse!
On our check out, we were approached to pay for damage to the crack in the patio doors that we had reported 1st morning- the reception manager sat us down and his actual words were “Ok, now tell me exactly how you damaged our door” and then smirked!!
Angry, humiliated was an under statement on my husbands behalf.
A staff member had “forgot” to log our complaint- no apology for their mistake was made to us.

Great coffee bar there, lovely Latte’s, staff dressed smartly and area well kept.

Overall, I have had two good experiences of Egypt at different hotels but unfortunately, Aqu Blu is “Haven” or “Pontins” in the sun and the standards to match. I would never return nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone.I have plenty of photos to confirm my findings.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Me and my boyfriend came here in march 12 and was a bit worried with it being a water park that it would just be kid orientated but it was perfect,,they catered for everybody the slides and waterpark were really good and then when we wanted to relax there were adult pools with beds round them! When you were there u couldn't tell you were in a waterpark it was really relaxing. Food was brilliant,,always loads to choose from and it was gorgeous. The staff were really nice and always happy to help..the hotel was mega clean aswell,,they were forever cleaning! And rooms were great.evening entertainment could of been better for adults but would be fantastic if you had kids with you, we got bored at night. Would defiantly return to this hotel! Loved it! Perfect for anybody,,and especially if you have kids !

My husband, daughter and myself spent a great week at the Aqua Blu Sharm in the last week of June. We met up with my brother and his family from South Africa who also really enjoyed their stay.

Bad points - We were a bit disappointed the night we arrived as we didn't have the best welcome from the reception staff and were made to wait for over 30 minutes to check-in, even though we were the only family checking in. We were allocated a room above reception, which was NOT a 4* room, very small, a bit grubby and a camp bed for my daughter. The following day we upgraded to a water bungalow though which was fantastic and the quiet pool outside was our chosen spot for the rest of the holiday - bliss.
Some reviews have mentioned the drinks being warm, we also found this. It is not the drinks, but the glasses which are hot out of the dishwasher. To overcome this, we always asked for a cold glass for drinks (tip - the bottled beer is much nicer than the draught but you have to ask for it). The hotel has mainly Russian guests who have no idea how to wait their turn, we all found it funny in the end, very rude!

A point to remember is there are Mosques to the front of the hotel and the back. We were woken (very frightened) up on the first night at 3.15am to a very, very loud call of prayer until we realised what it was. To be honest after the first night, we got used to it and slept through most nights, as you are shattered becuase of the heat, which was over 110 while we were there.

Good points - staff are wonderful and all work really, really hard. Special mentions to the manager who sorted out our room, our cleaner who made lovely animals out of towels most days and was always friendly, Mohamed Basuony a supervisor (nothing too much trouble) and Gamal Hassan the manager in the asian restaurant. We always had breakfast and lunch here and a few evening meals too. They always found a table for our party of 7 to sit together and the service was outstanding - best we have every had in any hotel (and we usually stay in 5*'s). My daughter was 17 whilst we were there and they saw her opening presents at breakfast and realised it was her birthday. When we returned at lunch time, they had set up an amazing table, with flowers and animals made from tea-towels for her and the waiters came out with a drum to sing and dance and wish her a happy birthday (very special). We had also booked a cake for our evening meal in the main restraunt and again she got star treatment! Think we better go back for her 18th.
The aqua park is great and run really well, kids and big kids will love it. As mentioned in previous reviews buy the swim shoes on your first day to use in the park, they will also be valuable if you go to the beach. This is a MUST DO. The sea is perfect and you will miss something really special if you come here and don't try snorkelling as it's breathtakingly beautiful.
All in all we had a wonderful holiday, which we booked last minute. Accomodation through Hotels4U - rep at hotel was very helpful, a really nice guy. Flights booked with Thomson, no complaints and no dealys (apart from why not switch the tv's on when the flight is over 5 hours?). Transfer with A2B taxis - wow star treatment. We paid £18 return for a private taxi, which met us off the flight and straight into an air conditioned mini bus, same going home - very good company.

This was our first time in Egypt. We would recommend this hotel to family and friends and we would go back in the future. However, my brother's family had a second week in one of their sister hotels the Royal Albatros Medena (about 1/2 hour away) which had a private beach and is 5* which we will probably try next time.
