“April 2012”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

We visited Egypt in April and chose this hotel as it was a family hotel & good for children.
The rooms were clean, although we did have 2 days where the room wasn't cleaned at all. The room was big and airy with powerful (if a little noisy) air conditioning. We were supposed to have a ps2 in the children's den but there wasn't one, not a big deal as they weren't there to play on a ps2. The walls on the rooms could have been a little thicker perhaps - we were woken every night at random hours with children screaming or adults shouting, no-one seemed capable of being quite or be able to close a door without slamming it no matter how late.

Food was ok, lots of choice even for the fussy eater, there is also a choice of 3 restaurants you can visit - we visited the Chinese which wasn't great, more like poor version of Thai and then the Med one which was better, we didn't try the Indian. They do need fly control in the eating area's as they were everywhere.

The pools were good but SO cold and heating would have been nice, even though it was very warm the pools took your breath away.
Beach was nice, sea lovely & would recommend a camel ride.

The biggest disappointment in this hotel was the dreadful entertainment, there was bingo every night (not sure what you do with your children if you wanted to play?) and no-where really to sit and enjoy a drink. There were a few chairs outside but undercover so the smell of people smoking was not nice to sit in, plus not enough chairs. There was a child's disco which we visited once but the music (at the risk of sounding old!) was so loud that no parent could sit & chat whilst their child dances (or ran around). A lot of people sat in the reception area which had air con so cold it was uncomfortable to sit in, but again not ideal for children. We spoke to a few people and they thought the same - not enough to do in an evening and unlike other holiday destinations it wasn't the kind of place you wandered around at night as you got hassled to much.
I can't comment on the kids clubs as ours didn't attend.
We ended up going back to our rooms after dinner but couldn't sit on the balcony for the amount of Mosquitos buzzing around (despite using the recommended spray) so perhaps some candles outside would be nice.
Had great weather, very hot with a slight breeze which can catch you out so get high factor cream.

I wouldn't come back to this hotel again but that's not to say it wasn't nice enough, certainly good for the sunshine.

We were dubious about going to Egypt and it was a last minute booking for some sunshine and warmth. We certainly got that with temperatures over 30 degrees during the day and late 20s at night. Our room was great with a patio overlooking the sea and beautifully kept gardens. The sun rose early and the patio was scorching in the morning and shady in the afternoon. There were blackout curtains so you could keep it out if you wanted to. Rooms were cleaned daily and we had 4 bottles of water in the room each day too. We could walk out onto the beach as it was private with its own private pontoon to walk down to see the fish. Food was very good for all inclusive with fresh eggs being cooked to order for breakfast and fresh bread plus loads of other foods and cereals. Lunch was cooked to order too from various bars around the hotel offering a choice of foods, and dinner there was the usual buffet and again foods cooked to order sometimes fish other times meat. Stacks of desserts to temp too. Ice cream all day long and of course drinks. Sunbeds were not always easy to come by and there should be some policing on that. We always managed to find somewhere but the best spots had gone very early. We tried all the restaurants and liked the Mediterranean the best. The Stonegrill was also good but you had to pay for that. We also liked the Bedouin tent for tea and relaxation. We used the spa for treatments but the pool was not heated when we visited for an early morning swim. The children enjoyed it and were safe. The adult bar was a real 'childfree zone' and the entertainment was ok. The First Choice staff were excellent and helpful. When you go out of the hotel though beware the traders and they just dont take no for an answer and do harass you. I am quite thick skinned but they got me down and in the end it put me off shopping so we did not need much spending money! One criticism though is the flight. The aircraft was very cramped and there was no inflight entertainment which I was surprised at for such a flight as have had video and radio before on shorter flights. Its not so bad going as you are looking forward to your holiday but coming home was a long flight.

Would definitely go back though and try out a different room and pay for more leg room. I think April was a good time to go as nice and warm but not overpowering.

Room Tip: We had a junior suite as had 2 children (11 and 14) with us they had the lounge area which was priva...

This was our second time at the holiday village and although we had a great holiday and the resort was very good I did feel that it was not as good as last time.
Our room was fantastic we payed for a Childs den so that the kids would have some space to themselves and vice a versa. The room was well situated in block 5 which is only 2 floors and is right behind the main pool very handy. The main room was massive with a huge bed the kids room had a small set of bunk beds and a TV, more importantly it had a door! The bathroom had a bath and a shower which all worked fine but the shower head was a bit worn out. The pools were fantastic very clean and tidy, the kids were in the pool for hours at a time and no ear infections or tummy bugs were found! The only draw backs we found were there were no drinks available from the pool bar until 10am which is a pain as we had to bring drinks down from breakfast as it was very hot from the moment the sun came up. the other thing to watch out for is the towel guys they think the guests are stupid and will try and get you to change pound coins for Egyptian pounds which is all ok if you are happy with the rate they are offering but then the next day they come to you or go to someone else and exchange the Egyptian pounds back to English at again an agreed rate, they do this throughout the day making money for themselves which is all fine but is annoying when you are trying to relax. The food was exactly the same as last time and is fine but does get very repetitive. My advice would be to book the ala carte restaurants early as we found these very good particularly the Indian and Chinese. (We were repeat guests so we were able to go to each 4 times a week instead of just 1).
The kids clubs were great with a large variety of activities available and all the reps were very good at making the kids feel very welcome, our kids came back after each session raving about what they had done, which meant no fights about going the next day and more peace and quiet for mum and dad!
The only thing was the evening entertainment for the kids The I five live show was very repetitive and not that good. After watching the show on the first night we found that it didn't really change throughout the rest of our stay. The 2 men hosting the show didn't seem to fit and were quite uncomfortable to watch!
The most frustrating thing was that the kids would be encouraged to come up to the front of the stage but once a few dozen kids got up there was no room for any of them to join in with the dances! I asked one of the reps why the amphitheatre wasn't used for the show and he said it was too cold at night, this seemed strange because the air conditioning was on so high in the theatre that it was freezing, far warmer outside!

Room Tip: for families block 5 with the kids dens are worth the extra money!

Well along with many others on here I have only positive things to say about this hotel . We flew from Doncaster on 16th April for a week .
Flight was fine ..new aircraft which seemed a bit "roomier".Arriving on a Monday at 4.20 pm was ,nt great as 6 flights all arrive within half an hour ...chaos ensued ! However we were on the coach by 5 pm.
On arrival we were shown to our lovely swim up room..(definately worth every penny)especially if you are a couple with no children as we were . Cannot fault the room.clean.spacious.and being brought drinks and snacks every hour was a lovely touch.
We went for a relaxing week and that is what we got. Yes the main restaurant did get busy early in the evening as that is when families ate..if you want a quieter mealtime just go afte 8pm. We ate at the Sari and the Med restaurant as part of the a la carte deal and enjoyed both.
To sum up.I think this hotel deserves everyone of it,s good reviews and for the price cannot be beaten .

Room Tip: We were advised to go for Block 7 for the swim up rooms,as they get the sun for longerand we did get...

I am sorry to say that I agree with an earlier review that highlighted the chav levels in this place. Food was no more than adquate and I am afraid that I saw some appalling behaviour on the part of some members of staff. In particular one young lady holidaying alone was agressively pursued by a waiter and a beach club representative. In my view the hotel management does not have a grip on the attitudes of their staff toward women, particularly those on their own. From what I saw this young woman's holiday was ruined by the treatment she received. So, a cheap holiday for cheap people delivered by ill disciplined staff. I wil not revisit this country again and nor would I recommend it to others. A big let down, good job the sun comes free!
