Basically the resort is two hotels, the older one next to the beach, the newer one around three connected massive pools. I was in the newer one, and I was happy with that ... in fact more than happy as I was upgraded to a suite due to my Diamond Hilton Honors status. The suite had a really large bathroom, large walk-in shower, separate bath, twin basins.
There is a bus that runs round the resort, but it's an easy walk, although coming back from the beach is all up hill !! They take you to the room at check-in in a golf cart.
The resort is all inclusive, with a buffet restaurant in each part (old and new), there's also an al a carte restaurant El Rustico (Italian) and an extra fee Oriental restaurant, as well as snack bars including an Egyptian themed one and bars dotted around. I thought the food in the buffet restaurants was OK for breakfast, lunch and dinner, different themes each night, but basically the same staple foods (beef, chicken, fish, pasta). Sometimes it was funny at the interpretation of the particular themed dishes. I really liked Om Aly for breakfast, kind of like bread pudding. I also tried the El Rustico restaurant once and wouldn't recommend it. First you have to book and we had to book 3 days in advance, the food was not as good as the buffet, and not enough of it ... in fact the one night we stopped in at the buffet restaurant on the way back !!
Snorkelling off the beach is really good. There's a little pier which takes you out over a reef. Snorkelling equipment is free to rent, but you need a deposit in cash.
There's a spa and gym in each hotel, but they are over priced. Although top tip: when you're sun bathing a very friendly chatty guy will walk round and try and persuade you to visit the spa ... and you can negotiate with him. We got 25% off easily, but he wouldn't go for 50% for our second visit.
What makes the hotel is the staff. All of them are friendly, all of them say hello, and they're all smiling.
