we have had three holidays here and find it gets better each time, the rooms are fantastic and the staff very friendly and helpful, the food is better this year and caters for everyone, the pools are lovely and refreshing when it's hot, a trip to old Sharm is a must, you can buy everything alot cheaper, dont be scared to haggle, they enjoy it as much as you, the night life seems to be for the italians, as it's run by them, night life is at naama bay, it's quite a walk, the staff at the casablanca were terriffic and we spent most evenings there, the staff at the Le Dome were the best, they looked after us very well, we had lots of laughs with the waiters and managers, we will be back again next year, we always enjoy our two weeks here.

Gym is derelict, nothing like the website pic. Service is slow, unstaffed. Bear is limited and low alcohol food nothing special.
However, rooms clean, staff really friendly and entertainment crew superb.

My wife and three sons (12, 14, 17) have just returned from a weeks stay. We arrived Sunday 28th March at Sharm El Sheik airport and after 90 minutes we were on the bus and on our way to the hotel. The airport was a bit chaotic. Two flights had arrived closley together and 'Arrivals' was packed with people queuing for Visa's and the three Border control desks that were open. I elected to pay for the Visa's using Egyptian pounds, but the 700 I was charged for 5 people worked out at roughy £95 when I was expecting £10 per person ?? Anyway, once on the coach the hotel was 15 minutes away and we were in our rooms in no time at all.

We emailed the hotel prior to arrival and asked for adjoining rooms with nice views and they were as good as their word. My wife and I had a first floor suite, with dressing room, sitting area and balcony overlooking the Blue Wave pool, with the Sinia Mountains in the distance. The room was large and cool with a bed big enough for five ( if you like those kind of parties!)

We ate primarily in the Dome Restaurant as it was closest to us and a little less 'school canteen' in nature than the Citadel Restaurant, the other AI eatery. We didn't bother with any of the 'a la carte' offerings. The food was good, without being spectacular. The drinks service wasn't very good at all as it took too long to get served. On the subject of drinks, soft drinks like Diet Coke and Fanta are branded. The beer is tasty, however the cocktails are bad, due to the absence of quality fruit juice. They do make the worst Pina Colada you will ever taste !

The resort itself is huge, almost like several villages in a town. English and Russian/Ukranian families make up the largest proportion of guests. The beach that the complex has sole use of is pretty tiny and the sunbeds fill up quickly each morning. You can make a base though, if you just fancy a dip in the sea each day, or you want to take advantage of the fantasic snorkelling there is to be had, straight from the beach.

You will find in your first few days that you are inundated with visits from hairstylists, water sports sellers, massage providers, excursion sellers etc etc. Your sunbed won't be as quiet as you might want it to be during this time.

The activities on offer range from gentle exercise classes to the more exhuberant water polo and football matches. The evening brings various shows, from single saxophonists, to dance/tap troupes and singers and the in-house animation team who are young, energetic and fun, if a little cliched in their choices of shows, which seem to depend a little too much on a guy with inflatable boobs.

All in all, I'd have liked the pools to have had some chlorine in them, I'd have liked better quality drinks, I'd have liked less mossies and hawkers but all in all these are minor in the scheme of things. I would recommend this resort to families and couples looking for a slow pace holiday

Good hotel, great gardens and 6 pools, staff are excellant, a massive hotel. Good family room but the bathroom needed a refit and the beds are very hard. The Health club is expensive for massages, go across the road from the hotel and there is a 24/7 shop selling all you need, especially Mossie spray for the rooms, and a spa, massage is 30 euros and you get a free steam room included. The busiest shop was the chemist for the bad stomach pills, immodium does not work, buy the local pills, also they sell Viagra over the counter a pack of 8 works out at £4 sterling each in a pack of 8.There are 3 currencys they use Egyptian pounds,Euros and Dollars. Travellers cheques cannot be changed at the hotel you need to go across the road to Thomas Cook Travel, the duty free is the same price at the airport and is sold in Dollars. The Ultimate Desert Experiance on quad bikes is great book this via your rep £50 sterling not the locals, if you are ill then you can change the day with your rep!!!. The worst bit of the holiday was laid up in bed for 24 hours with a bad stomach and then seeing very poor hygiene standards in the restaurants from the Chefs at meal times, but this is the middle east!!!!!. Not enough sun beds around the pools get you towels out early and the beach was poor. All in all a good holiday, and looking to go to Sharm for Christmas.

We stayed at the Sonnesta Beach Resort in Sharm last year for our honeymoon and it was lovely! The prominade which takes you to bars and restaurants is next to the private beach on the resort and 10 mins walk along this prominade is resort centre of Naama Bay. We had the best of both worlds. The food in the hotel restaurants were good and varied and lots of it. If you want to go out you also have that option within walking distance. We found that the food and drink was fairly expensive in Naama Bay so were glad we went all inclusive.

The resort is immaculate, there are staff walking around all day cleaning and tending to the gardens.

The staff were very friendly with a great sense of humour. There is entertainment all day and night but has quiet pools and an activity pool so you have the option to be around it or not. If you are looking for life around the pool the activity pool is a great place to be. Music & games & activities most of the day. We met a great croud around this pool and had a good laugh.

The service is fantastic and rooms are cleaned daily.

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and have booked again for September 2010. Cant wait to go back!

Thomas Cook and Thompson offer this hotel. Be careful not to book the Sonesta Club accross the road as this is not as nice.

Take a look at the hotel website, the photos are exactly what it looks like (unlike some brochures showing pics of when the hotel first opened)
