“April 2012 - Gezira Suite Deal”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

This deal was great as we have a 6 and 3 year old, they had their own room and bathroom which gave us a bit of space for a change. The kids club was great although we did have to stay with the 3 year old as they can only be left after they are 4 but you can hire a child minder to stay with the under 4's if you wish. Ours did the treasure hunt, making pizza, arts and crafts and few other things. You could leave them there all day but we just did an hour or so a day spending the rest of the day at the beach or one of the pools. Slight gripe that at 6 one of our girls always wanted to be in the big pools but it was to deep for the 3 year old meaning i had to go with her all the time, the big pools are about 5ft deep all the way so no shallow end. There are little kids pools which were great but the older one got bored in those. There are loads of kids about and they make friends which is great, there did not seem to be any teenagers just babies to about 8. The beach can be a bit sharp and i think if they thought about it they could get a couple of dumper trucks of sand (plenty of it about) and put it down by the shore but other than that it’s great. The service at the beach is second to none. There are guys moving your shade as the sun goes round, bringing you melon and cold towels to cool you down and the snorkelling is the best i have ever seen. Don’t take your own stuff as its 10 dollars to hire fins and mask and they are quality gear. They even do kids stuff and my 6 year old had her first snorkel, you jump off a pier which takes you from the beach to the shelve that drops off 19 mtrs straight down, the fish are massive. There is a guy watching you all the time and giving you a nice towel as soon as you get out. Talking of towels, they have thousands, I never knew we could use so many but we were getting through about 10 a day between us at the pools and beach but they are always there, big bath towels rolled up and ready to go, I felt a bit guilty at first but you just get used to grabbing them or the staff just bringing clean ones over. The staff are always watching, almost bringing you stuff before you know you need it. They remember where you like to sit on the beach by the pool and at the restaurants. After the first morning this guy knew my name and where I liked to sit for breakfast, he also brought me a paper as soon as I sat down. If you are going in April expect it to be 28 – 32 everyday and don’t think about taking that jumper because it might get chilly at night, it’s still very much tea shirt and shorts at night. Do take mosquito bite cream and spray, I was bitten about 5 or 6 times in the week, the wife about the same but the kids escaped. They really go out of their way to look after the kids, they have their own plates and cutlery, they have special buffets for them and the staff really make an effort, learning their names, always smiling at them and making a fuss over them. The four season is expensive although with the young family escape package at 290 us dollars a night it’s not over the top, the food and drink again is what you would expect to pay in a top hotel so for a week you are looking at about 4 or 5k all in but you will know where that 4 or 5k went because I challenge you to find anywhere as kid friendly and with that level of service for that kind of money. My two said it was the best holiday they have ever had and we went to Disney Florida last year so that tells you something. So in conclusion, if you have young kids the Gezira suite is the way forward, your kids will have plenty to do, if over 4 I doubt you will see them much as the kids club is good and they are really well looked after. There is no need to go out of the complex, a car picks you up from the airport, 10 minutes you are there and the car takes you back at the end of your holiday. It is built on a steep hill but they have a small train that takes you to the beach and lower pools, the kids loved that, and also golf carts which take you anywhere on the resort you want to go. Once the kids are down you can get a sitter or watch TV or DVD or sit out on the balcony order room service which as you would of guessed is as good as going to any restaurant and while the night away with a cold bottle of wine. O, in the Gezira suite there is a washing machine, drier, microwave, fridge and hob so if you have toddlers you can’t go far wrong either. That’s it, I’ve never written one of these before, never really felt the need but I have been looking for somewhere I could enjoy a holiday instead of tolerating a holiday while we try and please the kids. The wife and I actually got to read a book, sit in the sun by the sea, have our own space in the suite and spend some time together. Somehow that just has not seemed to have happened the last 4 or 5 years on holiday, some of you reading this will know what I mean. Go, book it, you will see I was right. Enjoy

Four Seasons level quality all around. Spacious, perfectly clean rooms, many with a delightful plunge pool. Beautiful pools, nice beach, coral reef right on the resort. Service at top levels, excellent restaurants, wonderful landscaping. The restaurant overlooking the water is spectacular! Have been here 3 times, I will go back. Excellent Spa and Kids' club. Only drawback, the chilling temperature in the Kids' club.

Four Seasons never disappoints me. Their hotel i Sharm is no exception! The location is 10 minutes from the airport, where they have a complimentary meet and greet service upon arrival and departure. It can be needed in a country like Egypt where chaos is the norm (why its not possible to run an airport better than Sharm is in 2012 is a mystery). The hotel cars are a fleet of brand new audis that will take you comfortably and safely to a very beautiful resort on the best location in the area. The reason we chose Sharm is that its a 5 hour direct flight (SAS Charter) from Oslo, and its the closest location for a guaranteed sunny week for most Europeans. The beach is very nice, and its located on a small coral reef where we were really impressed with the sea-life. There are numerous pools, all of which are surrounded by very comfortable sun-beds and great service from lots of staff. The rooms are well thought out and generous in size, we stayed in room 304 which had beautiful sea-views and a great terrace. The staff is very well trained and we found them to be flawless from when we arrived to when we left. The childrens-club was all staffed with english speaking (and some some of them are indeed english) and very sweet caretakers. Our 5 year old loved being there - they have lots of activities every day of the week. There is a children's menu everywhere with great food for the kids for a very reasonable price. The food at this resort is very good and we had no disappointments. We had the pleasant surprise to meet Chef Mauro, who is a talented Chef with ambitions running the Italian restaurant. Try his buffet which is very personal a boutique style with amazing food. I would love to have him prepare a fixed tasting menu as his pasta is one of the best outside of Italy that I have ever tasted, and his Tiramisu made in front of you with your favorite ingredients is equally impressive. All in all, I would recommend hotels to build on talented Chefs like Mauro. People really liked talking to him as well - It gives you a feeling of being in a great michelin style restaurant. Food becomes a reason for being there! The Reef is a great terrace restaurant with spectacular views and great food. The breakfast is good, but it could be more interesting! We met the general manager and the key staff on the management-cocktail evening; they are all very engaged and cannot do enough to make your vacation perfect. We will be back!
