I can only recommend the Steigenberger Al Dau.
- The Room: Very nice with a spacious bathroom and a balcony with seaview.
- The Buffet (morning and evening): Large selection of various foods, most of very high quality.
- The Service: Excellent and the staff was always friendly (except one girl in the business centre).
- The Pool: Such a large pool with several "islands" (an island with a huge game of chess, one with spas and a sauna etc.). No problem finding a free sun chair (or hammock).
- Children: Great place for children with playground etc.
- The Beach: A short walk (2mins) to the hotel's private beach with (free) sun chairs and hammocks. There's also water sports and boat trips.
- Sports: There's several events going on like dancing lessons, stretching, water Aerobics etc. (free) furthermore there's two small gyms with the basics of cardio machines and weights/strenght machines. There's a 2.5km running track on the hotel's ground and the pool is huge which means that you can get some long swim tracks (approx. 75m).

Cons:
- There're some really big birds (crows?) invading the outdoor tables at the buffet. They will sit at empty tables and eat the sugar etc. and come a little too close to you while your eating. If you turn your back they will fly to your table and eat your food off the plates (!!) SO yukky and the staff don't really bother chasing them away...
- The staff is instructed to approach you and try to sell you stuff (or clean your sunglasses for free) while you'r relaxing at the beach or by the pool. That can be quite annoying.
- I asked for a quiet room but still got a room where we could hear noise from the lobby - didn't bother us too much though.

Located a bit outside the center of Hurghada. Expect to pay 25-30 Egyptian pounds to go to the marina (which is a place with nice cafés). From there you can walk to the main street with lots of shops (and hustlers).

Room Tip: We stayed at 3rd floor just above the reception desk. Very nice room but you can hear piano and noise from the lobby in the evening (didn't bother us though).

It was my first Time at the steigenberger and it was as I had expected: Huge pool area, nice garden, clean and well designed rooms, Good breakfast. If I go back to Hurghada that's the place to stay.

We have just returned from a wonderful seven night all inclusive stay at this hotel and cannot fault it in any way. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained with a very large free form swimming pool, heated pool and a lazy river . There is also 2.5 kilometres of foot path throughout the hotel grounds and golf course. For the energetic there is a well equipped gym and a luxurious Spa for those who wish to be pampered.
At this time of year the weather is very good, 28 degrees with plenty of sun loungers at the pool and on the beach. (No need to get up early). Food in the main restaurant was plentiful, varied and of very good quality. You also have the choice of dining at Alexanders restaurant which offers excellent cuisine and is included in the all inclusive package.
The staff throughout the hotel, the gardners, cleaners, waiters, chefs, reception and bar personnel and management were extremely polite, friendly and professional and could not do enough to ensure your every wish is catered for, with special thanks to Mr Sadaan and his bar staff, Romany, Artef and the team, at the pool bar, Mr Essam, Mohammed, Adam, Romany and team, in the restaurant, Wael, Mr Magdi, Wahlied and Hanna. With our sincere thanks to Anna and Maren from guest relations who helped to organise and make our stay and my wife's birthday a memorable occasion.
Overall, an excellent choice of hotel for a relaxing holiday with high standards of service.
Hope to return very soon.

Room Tip: Suggest fourth or fifth floor.

We are not satisfied with this hotel - It's made for charter and not upper class travel - You will find a hotel with a lot of children and limited space for the pool and beach...

We will not go there again.....

I am staying at the hotel right now. It's my 4th stay here and I love the hotel. The staff is very friendly. This time I decided to leave the kids back home and I am really glad I did because the main pool including the main attraction, the Lazy River is ice cold. The water temperature is15-16 centigrade and the past 4 days I have only seen 3 people use it. See attached picture of beautiful empty pool. I now realize that in the past years it must have been heated. Next time I book this hotel again I will certainly check if they started heating the pool again.
