This hotel is definately not a five star hotel...it had some very good points and some bad points:
standard room: was dusty, not cleaned properly during our entire stay a sweet wrapper remained on the floor by the bin for our entire 7 night stay! the headboards hosted a layer of dust. the little couch/pull out bed was stained very badly with i dont know what. and being on the ground floor meant we got eaten alive by mozzies. i work for a doctor who said that more than half my bites looked more like bed bug bites! i was covered in them. interestingly i did not get bitten after i put two quilt covers on the mattress i was sleeping on which supports the bed bug theory! there were splatted mozzie bodies all over the walls too. wires were hanging out of the wall behind the telly and at every socket, some were taped together with sticky plasters! the bathroom was dirty and had a nail sticking up from the floor where the door stop used be. this was rusty and uncovered just by the shower entrance. The room was 1144 - avoid it if you can. two other family we met had nice rooms, but both of those were in the titanic palace side of the resort.
YOU hotel rooms rep - mohammed - a complete an utter mysoginist - when i complained about the room he actually told me to shut up and listen to him, then proceeded to tell me that the hotel was full and we could not be moved - he basically could not have cared less. he spoke in the same manner to another party of females and kept interupting her when she spoke and told her to stop talking!!! he was not rude to a male gust who also complained and was miraculously moved!
water park and pools: the water park was great fun, kids loved it, but there were queues for them and inevitably arguments becuase not everyone queues! some rides like the rapids are only open once for 20 minutes every few hours so we did not actually ever get round to getting on it. the other slides and stuff are good though and the staff are great fun.
beach and snorkellig: the beach was nice, great for little kids as the water is not deep at all! the jetty to the edge of the reef is a long walk out, but its a nice walk. the reef itself is okay - not the best ive seen in egypt or indded hurghada, but there are a variety of fish and its was okay.
food: repetitive and geared towards germains russians and polish appetites - but you would have to be a complete fuss pot not to fnd something to eat, the star turn was fresh koftas and the pitta lady who sat and made bread in a tradisional oven - delicious! the al-a-carte resturaunt we used for our free meal was the arabic one and the food was outstanding! nothng veggie though!
i think food is a personal thing and you will either love it or hate it.
staff: beach guys and pool guys were absolutly great, very nice bunch of fellas. most of the wiaters were lovelly too. however, one or two had very bad attitudes and were downright rude. i asked one waiter very nicely to clear a table and set it for us as none were clear or available and he literally slammed the cutlery down in from of us and muttered in arabic and walked off! i have been to egypt 5 times and have never encountered any rudeness before they usually cant do enough for you! i was very suprised by his attitude. i am not a fussy person or someone who expects five star from a four star place - i know egypt very well and was totally disapointed in this hotel.
sunbeds; if you want one by the pool you will have to get up at 6 O'clock and lay on your chosen bed or the staff will come round and take your towels off. by 7 am there will be no available beds by the pools, everyone gets up early and reserves the beds by laying on them until 7, after 7am the staff ont remove your stuff so your bed is 'safe'!
trips; we did quad biking and snorkelling day trips - both very reasonably priced and both were okay.
overall; people with kids will enjoy the water park, but i would class this hotel as three star at best and would not recommend any of my family or friends to go there - there are much nicer hotels in hurghada that are 100 times better than this one.
our entire party got stomach complaints and diarrohea, ive never had this problem before in any of my previous four visits to egypt.
