This hotel was recommended and proved better than expected. The staff are really friendly, nice and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Room cleaned with fresh bed linen and towels every day. We stayed for a week, food very good, hotel very clean and the location looking over the marina was beautiful.Wouldn't hesitate staying there again on our next visit.

Room Tip: ask for a marina view

We booked this hotel for a three-day visit to El Gouna at the end of a two-week holiday in the Nile Valley and Cairo. The reviews suggested it was a good location and excellent value. In the event, it was even better than we expected. OK, let's be realistic - this isn't a luxury hotel. But it is very clean and well-appointed budget accommodation (think Prenier Inn) in one of the most prestigious resorts in the region. The location at the head of the marina is incredible and one you would not expect to find for a hotel at this price. The all-you-can-eat "American buffet" style breakfasts were excellent and served amid beautiful surroundings on the waterfront. The ridiculously good price also included a free pass to the local beach club and the swimming pool of an adjacent four-star hotel. To be honest, part of me doesn't want to review this hotel at all, we want to keep it to ourselves! As for the wonderful resort of el Gouna we can't wait to return and when we do it will be back to the excellent Captain's Inn.

A great position with lovely views of the Abu Tig Mariner and beyond to the Red Sea. We had a lovely front room with views, very clean, hotel food delicious, staff really friendly and welcoming. We went with a group of divers for the first week and stayed a second week as a couple. The diving with Orca Diving was really good - yes we did see dolphins who joined us on a dive, 8 of them - just amazing! El Gouna is a very clean, trendy and modern area, plenty of superb restaurants and shops and a great beach. Kite surfers love it there as do divers. The locals are lovely people and made us feel really welcome. Unlike other areas we have visited in Egypt there was no pressure to "come into my shop", no sign of poverty and no hassle. A lovely place for winter sun although in November it gets dark about 6pm and is a bit chilly in the evenings but during the day was mid 20's. Would go back and would stay at Captain's Inn again..

Room Tip: Try to get a front room with a view of the Mariner - sun rise in the morning. The rear rooms have vi...

Our family, consisting of me and my husband, my daughter, her husband and baby Lily have just returned from the Captains Inn.
This was our second visit to El Gouna, my daughters first. As baby was only 9 months we were slightly worried as to how she would take to the heat etc, but she was fine. In fact , she loved the waiters and every one at the Inn. They would wave and call, Lily habibi, and we were all made to feel very welcome with nothing being too much trouble.
We had the Captains suite, and my daughter had a family room, which actually had a little room off the bedroom for baby Lily to sleep peacefully. Both rooms were clean on arrival, and cleaned daily. I think for what we paid for the suite, appx € 850 for 10 nights, there could have been a bit more " home comforts" such as a couple of easy chairs and a proper fridge, instead of metal chairs and a mini bar, which by the way, we emptied to keep cold milk and wine in.
The breakfast was fine, as there was a good choice and you can order an omelette or 2 fried eggs, although I did mean to suggest that it would be a good and simple idea to place a small
toaster near to the bread/ coffee machine, instead of having to order it.
For adults, the facility of being able to use Fanadir, Mosaique, and 3 Corners view pools is brilliant. My only comment there is that none of the pools were heated. Fanadir & Mosaique are extremely quiet, whilst 3 Corners goes the opposite way, no sun beds for love nor money and booming animation all day! This meant no where for a family,( Fanadir/Mosaique adults only, we were asked to leave) to swim/ sunbathe. Anyway, we found a public " chill out pool" called Club 88' formerly Club 360. We were welcomed, given daybeds, massive sofa with 2 parasols and a dining table, all on an upper deck, which we had to ourselves for the day.
The music was brilliant, food excellent, friendly owners and waiters, so we returned several times. Pool freezing, so Lily could only dip her toes. Who uses these freezing pools, even in heat?
Just a couple more things. Plenty
of places to eat, both on the Marina and downtown. Also, if you fancy a sandwich and a cool down in the Marina area, try the Deli called Zanzibar, near to Moods, little side street. Good salads, and very friendly English/ German owned. Say Hi to the English lady from Lily.
All in all a brilliant holiday, with a really friendly atmosphere.

Room Tip: Decide on location, Downtown or Marina

Great location and to be fair we returned as we had a good meal there last year but were disappointed in both the quality of the meal and service this year
