“We loved the tropitel - we'd go back again!”
Reviewed 3 February 2012

The hotel is clean, tidy and is peaceful and quiet. There is good and easy access to the reef, which is beautiful for both diving and snorkelling and you're within walking distance of the Canyon and Ricks Reef dive/snorkel spots and a longer walk to the Blue Hole. Location wise it's perfect - quiet - no planes going over head, no traffic noise, no hassle from people selling things. It's not the place for people who like to have massive entertainment things on an evening - but there is a shuttle bus into dahab if you did want to have more lively evenings. We tended to play cards, drink and chat with friends - and then ventured in to Dahab when we wanted to eat out/change of venue.

The food was good, well prepared and presented, it was a buffet so you knew what to expect, chicken, beef, fish, rice, potato, veggies, salad at every meal time. But they offered a make your own pasta chef station - if you didn't fancy anything on the dinner plate. The all inclusive was good too - drinks were in reasonable sized (half pint glasses) and the beer was always cold (which is important) which ever bar youhad your drink from - they also had diet drinks - diet pepsi, slimline tonic. The hotel offer packed lunches as well - so if you're out for the day it's handy to do that.

In Dahab itself - I'd recommend trying a chicken roll from Nirvana - they are amazing! There's a great taxi driver called Sem Sem - spot him - he has a hat & hovers around the Ghazala Bazaar - which is a good supermarket to buy bits and bobs from.

Basically, Dahab is a diving and chill out place - it doesn't (thank the Lord) have a McDonalds - there's a great selection of restaurants, all along the seafront and plenty to keep you occupied under the water. We LOVED it!

Room Tip: We liked our room which was on the second floor to the left of the pool (which gets most of the sun)

What a little gem! The staff are brilliant, look out for Mohamed on the front desk his eyes are hypnotising! The absence of entertainment was definitely a draw to the hotel for us as we wanted a break from it all holiday to re charge our batteries and it certainly did that. Thanks to all the staff for making sure all we asked for was achieved and more.
The rooms were cleaned well and always smelt lovely , the cleaners left behind towel art most days on the bed for our amusement. The bathrooms could do with a bit of updating but they are in the process of doing up the rooms now anyway so any doubters on the standard can take note.
The food was enjoyable and we never heard of any upset stomachs which is always a bonus as so many times when being away you have some degree of problems. The range of food was limited but it was always of a good standard. The salad bar is unbelievable with so many choices every day. Try the burgers on the menu they are ace! These aren't included on the AI though but at a couple of pounds each it won't break the bank.
The hotel is the last one on the beach before the blue hole so you can walk along the beach for as far as you can see, which in sharm is not possible as they are all private beaches to each hotel.
Butchi organises brilliant trips and his one that we went on to the white canyons was the best one we have ever been on, Butchi's stories on the hike make the whole experience magical. Thanks Butchi so many memories to stay with us. Find him in the hotel so you don't even need to go looking anywhere to grab a bargain, and he's such a gentleman making sure I was looked after on the desert ride telling me to go in the front with the driver!!
All in all a brilliant bargain break which puts staff at 4/5* hotels to shame. Carry on the good work and hold on to the staff you have they are a real draw to coming back and being looked after so well.
Will return as soon as possible to recharge again
Tip:
Ask for a room with views of Dahab especially in the cooler months as they have the sun on them all day and holidaymakers said they were a lot better then the side we were on ,which was in the shade all day :(

This is my second visit to Dahab, but the first time at this Hotel!!!! As in the words of 'Arnie Swarz' - "We will be back!!!!" Had a fab two weeks here although temperature cooler than normal with a few cold winds!!! I needed a Cardigan in the evening. The second week got hotter and we returned with colour. Great service and friendly staff! Mr Bean in the evening bar upstairs is a riot and mad football supporter!!! If male guests are invited to play footie with the staff at the hotel, rumour has it, it is an experience to behold!!!! Buchi and the excursion team are a riot and very helpful. Staff bend over backwards in the hotel, u always get service with a smile!!! Swimming Pool warm too! Down sides are a lack of entertainment in the evening and variety of local food or themed nights.

If you have had a dream, tell Buchi about it!!!! An evening at Wady Connection was a peaceful experience and for those who like to do off the beaten track stuff and to mix amongst the locals, it is a must!! The views over Dahab at night and to see Saudia Arabia across the water is quiet breathtaking!!! The trip to the Bedouin night and the White and Red Canyons is something else!!!! Made some great friends and we hope to go back to Dahab for a week at the end of October. Food was basic, but enjoyable! For a holiday on a budget and if your requiring all the basics with the love and warmth of the people and all the water sports and cultural interests, you will not be disappointed. Laylla Bar in the main town is great for snacks, drink and to loaf in the Sun. Ali Baba Restaurant is a must, a fabulous place and great to visit if you are celebrating a special occasion and fancy splashing out a little. The service is outstanding and the Lobster and Tiger Prawns are to die for!!!! If you fancy a chilled night, then the Dolphin Restaurant smoking the 'Apple Shisha' is fun! They do great food, especially Kebabs late at night, when you have supped the local Beers either ‘Sekara or ‘Millers’!!!! A great campfire in a cosy atmosphere and a stones throw away from ‘The Tree Bar’ a local disco in the town, where we had a bit of a bop!!!! There is also Rush Bar and Mojito, but all were quiet due to it being low season.

Beware of being pestered to go in the shops by the locals!!! Be firm, but polite when refusing their beckoning gestures. They are after all, trying to make a living and the current climate has been bad for them, especially since the revolution. Use the local taxi service, cheap and an experience to behold. We had a top fortnight and the warmth of the staff in the Hotel and people in resort, made our trip a fabulous experience. Back home now in the UK now, eager to return!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view, as it is warmer on that side with more light. It is cooler and dark...

All I'll say is that things continue to be a joy at this hotel. If they have been feeling the pinch of a few bad seasons locally, they don't show it. Food seems to be more inventive and staff only too happy to accommodate any requests.

They have got a little stricter on the fill your own water bottle policy, so be prepared for that. Apparently, some of the half/room-only guests had been filling up for their friends.

Guests a weird and wonderful blend of East and Western Europeans, but nobody and trouble, and mercifully few kids.

Thanks Tropitel! We will be back!

Room Tip: No real difference, in my opinion.

We (my wife & I) arrived on 29th Dec 2011 at about 8pm . We went and had a meal & then to the bar & had a great night the guests were friendly & the bar staff even friendlier . Had a good nights sleep even though the beds were very very hard . In the morning we walked round the hotel exploring the pool & the beach e.t.c. At first you think the beach is a bit gravelly and rough . We went to the end of the jetty & snorkelled '. Well what a fantastic position this hotel is in I have dived and snorkelled all over the world Red Sea , Barrier Reef , Florida Keys e.t.c. & this is as good as any of them but only a 2 minute walk from your hotel room .

The Hotel .

Excellent value . The staff were some of the best I have ever come across , especially Mike the barman . The bar staff , in fact all the staff were exceptional & I think genuine .
The food was good if a bit repetitive , we went to town for a couple of nights & had a meal in Nemo's & Sharks . Both were equaly very good and great value .

I would return to this Hotel & recommend it to anyone .

The only negative thing I would say is that you had to pay for drinks for the New Years Eve Do . So most people left the Gala at 10.30 & went to the free bar , which spoiled it at bit .

The beds are very very hard but an extra couple of Vodka's in the free bar help with this .

All in all an excellent place .

Don't tell everybody !
