I was not totally happy with this hotel. The room was very small, no refrigerator in room, bed was ok comfort wise, TV worked, and there was a shower with hot water. Beware the electric wall units are two prong, not three so you will need an adapter for all three prong devices. The breakfast was basic and I stayed there when a big group was there, so it was difficult to get seating for breakfast in the morning. They do take credit cards and the beach plus all good eating is just a $2 taxi ride away or a $.50 bus ride which stops and picks up right in front of the hotel. However do your research for better hotel closer to the beach because I believe this hotel is quite overpriced for its location.

Room Tip: All rooms are quite small so no way around. Best bet is to look closer to beach in Salinas, the rates are no different.

The rooms are tiny and dark. I read reviews that this hotel is quiet. But it is not true. It is beside a street with a lot of trafic. The staff are not freindly at all. The pool is little and not usable. We had to wait 40 minutes for a very simple breakfast. It is not cheap and you can find better hotels with this price.

Sun beach is nowhere near the beach as advertised in its name and on google maps, its a good 30 minutes walk away from the beach. Also when me and my associates drink all the beer out of the fridge it shouldn't take a whole two weeks or more (it was still empty as I was leaving) to restock it, thirdly I don't like getting a mouthful of dead dragonfly when I'm doing a lap of the pool. The WiFi signal is only good if you can actually see the router. Breakfast as free though it mainly consisted of scrambled eggs so if you are a hardcore scrambled eggs fans then sun beach is the place for you. The accomodation is very basic though the rooms are clean. It would probably suit someone who likes to sleep, wake up and then get the hell out of dodge.

This hotel is advertised as being right on the beach, which is due to bad mapping on Google's part. Do not be suprised when you are a 20minute walk away rather than 5minutes. The staff did not speak English as to be expected but this did not cause any major problems. I found them quite helpful as they broke my $100 bills for me twice which was a godsend as you will have trouble paying for anything with higher than $20 bills in Ecuador!
It took us until the 3rd day to find out breakfast was included, we weren't told a time or place. It seemed to finish up at 10am. This is rotated from 3 options- scrambled eggs with 2 crossaints and herbal tea or coffee, scrambled eggs with sausage 2 croissants and herbal tea, or an Ecuadorian pastry with egg, potato and cheese in it. We did not want to eat eggs everyday so went elsewhere. The pool bar is non-existant with empty vodka and wine bottles behind it and as mentioned before the pool was not maintained. The rooms were on the very small, basic side but hot water is available at anytime and they clean your room everyday. Luckily we had one of the two rooms with a balcony. A lot of the other rooms seem more dorm type with bunkbeds. The taxi to the malecon is $1-$2. If I had to complain about anything it would only be the location - Ecuador is a developing country after all!

Hotel Sun Beach was disappointing to say the least. I found that the rooms where adequate but the services provided by the Hotel was very poor. First off, the location of the Hotel is nowhere near the location given on any mapping website. Hotel Sun Beach is located on the road between Salinas and La Libertad. Second, the Wi-Fi is practically non-existent unless you stand 5mtrs from reception. Third, the pool is very rarely cleaned properly and it is common to find the majority of the Hotels bug life floating in the pool. Forth, the pool bar was not stocked during the 2weeks I was there and service is non-existent.

FYI don’t expect any English spoken in the Hotel, its Española or nothing.
