This hotel was the worst place we stayed during our 9 days in the Galapagos on 3 different islands because there was no hot (or even warm) water for the entire duration of our 3 night stay despite them advertising having a natural gas water heater). We spoke with the front desk 3 different times and were brushed off in various ways with assurance that someone would come up to work on it. it had the feel to us as a hotel that was a nice place to stay at some time in the past but that had changed management and is in a state of decline (especially when it comes to maintenance) now. I don’t understand why this hotel is still listed in the Lonely Planet guide.
Location was the only aspect that I would praise about this hotel.

Really basic place - hotel rooms face towards a centre courtyard area overlooking each other. You cannot walk from shower to bed without having curtains fully closed. Music from etc gyn is very loud and it is next to impossible to take a nap. Food at the restaurant is not that good. So many other beautiful places to stay for less $.

We had a night at the Hotel Miconia at the beginning and the end of our cruise round the islands. It was absolutely perfect for what we wanted, not fancy but right on the water front just where we wanted to be. It was very comfortable and everyone was very helpful. If you're looking for a Hilton or Marriott it's not your cup of tea, but it you want something local with the feel of the islands, it's perfect.

OK first the positive things: really well situated, lovely terrace with a sea view, very nice small pool garden and good breakfast service, langosta for dinner is good! Not so positive: extremely slow service apart from breakfast (which is not the case in other places on the island), very unenthusiastic people at the front desk (especially compared to great happy service everywhere in Quito, maybe they are just fed up with tourists in the Galápagos?), my room was really not nice and the bedroom without window but was quite expensive. We had one glass in a room for 2 people, when it broke by accident I asked for the the room service to remove and clean well the area where the glass broke, this was certainly not done nor the single glass replaced until I specifically asked for it and left a tip. Maybe everything at a hostel level costs the same as a nice hotel in the Galápagos, I don't know :) But really it does'nt matter since the island is soooo incredible!

Room tip: I really think the rooms on the 2nd floor are better than those on the ground floor around pool

As my title implies, I came back here but decided to stay at the Miconia since I had a different travel partner this time with different needs. I remembered having some good meals at their restaurant the last time so I figured I would go and stay there this time. We were here for 5 nights.

We stayed in room 18 which had a private entrance and private balcony on the 2nd floor. The room was clean, had a little fridge and there was hot water (although we did have to let it run for a minute or two). We did have a little hiccup with the A/C however they apologized profusely and reacted very quickly and had it running again in no time. We also went into the small pool one afternoon which was a little cool but refreshing.

The breakfast was coffee or tea, juice, fruit, cheese, toast, jams and eggs cooked according to your taste. The food was tasty and served quickly. Same goes for the restaurant as we did have several meals there.

Located on the main street it was surprisingly quiet however, there were a couple of nights when we could hear music coming from a few streets down and also a political rally for the mayoral elections. This did not bother us as it all ended around 11PM. As for the noise coming from the gym, we did not hear anything at all as some others have reported. Lastly, the staff were friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Kathy and her team.

We booked this directly with the hotel and paid in advance using a bank transfer.
