My friend and I stayed at the Finca Barlovento in November 2017. We just came back from our 4 day trekking tour to the Ciudad Perdida. We stayed in the cabanas with ocean view. The Finca Barlovento has been the perfect place to relax after the hiking tour. The location of the house is just magical. The food has also been really good. This place has definitely been a highlight of our vacation in Colombia.

A very special place to visit. The cabanas are perched on the rocks and the other part has great views of the river and ocean. The only downside is that there is nowhere to swim as there is no pool and the sea is too dangerous. The river has crocodiles. The food is good though nothing amazing and only 2 courses for dinner. All in all a wonderful peaceful place but perhaps a little overpriced at $160 per double. It should also impose a no smoking policy at such close quarters.

Not sure why there are negative reviews here. This place is truly amazing. Staying here felt like a privilege. Like I'm seeing a piece of beautiful untouched earth. I feel soon this area will be ruined by tourist demand so better to enjoy while you can. I stayed at the barlovento side and it was amazing.

Luiz is a fantastic cook. They use local things and it was amazing. I fell asleep listening to the ocean waves which was amazing. Only four rooms so you feel quite alone as not many guests. Pretty much a solo beach although you can't swim. Downsides are shared bathrooms for three of the rooms and no pool but the setting is so amazing that you don't care. Thank you for your hospitality. You made an experience I hope to never forget.

Also, another guest had their birthday during their stay and they baked a cake for him. Was so sweet. Words can't describe how lovely it is. Staff leave at 8 so you have the place to yourself. Not a 5* service experience but who needs it when the place is so perfect

Stayed there for just 2 nights, enjoyed the beaches and the park tayrona. They're cooking for all guests the same amazing columbian speciality. But you can also wish some extra if you can't eat everything.
There is no air-conditioning, but it's not too hot in the rooms. Best place to stay if you wanna hear the nice sound of the sea and nature.

The hotel is beautiful and set into some amazing scenery, right on the coast. We stayed in Maloka, which is decorated in keeping with the eco-style with hammocks and deck chairs for you to make the most of the view. The communal areas are open to the elements. The room itself was clean, the beds comfy and all the decorations were very lovely, understated and complimentary. We stayed on the river side and you can hear the waves crashing in the distance during the night.

The breakfast and dinner were delicious, some of the best meals that I had on the trip, even if they were quite simple. Meals were freshly prepared and shared around communal tables, which gave the evenings a great convivial atmosphere.

I popped my head into one of the empty Cabana rooms and they look super-cool, but best for mobile visitors, otherwise it's a bit difficult to get up to the actual bed. The decking area of the Cabana hung directly over the waves and was a great place to read for a couple of hours - truly an unbeatable view.

I'd definitely recommend it, maybe not for a conventional hotel stay, but definitely an unforgettable one.
