If you get to choose, try staying in the Cabana. We even had the privilege of heaving the suite with a private bathroom and a private balcony. But this is not the most important thing - the location between river and ocean is breathtaking, you don't know if to look left or right. The house is a elderly and full of charm - with no reals ceiling. Sleeping at night you have the feeling that the waves are rolling into your bed. In the evening, after the visit to Tayrona, you can enjoy some quite moments in the hammock, overviewing the sea.
The atmosphere is special as well. The honesty bar relies on the guests to pay for everything - but quickly, you feel a responsibility for your new home. Food is amazing, the ladies cook one dish for everyone, you come all together at a big table, talk, meet interesting people, share stories and drinks. Btw drinks, the mojitos from the bar are yummy!

We enjoyed three nights in this place an we will definately come back. Thank you!

When we decided to book just the more expensive suites were available, so we decided to stay somewhere else in the surrounding area. Since we were curious about the place, one day we went there to check it out. We arrived there at sunset, simply amazing... I can't comment on services and rooms (I had thought of staying at Maloka), but the views can't be compared to anything around and all the site is carefully taken care of. Maybe next time...

The cabana is a beautiful spot with amazing views. The food was absolutely delicious and staff very helpful. There is no hot water so brace yourselves if you're there on a windy day, but the view from the bathroom more than makes up for it! Perhaps don't go there straight from Ciudad Perdida - have a nice warm shower in between - but it's a great way to end a holiday as there's very little to do so it's the perfect spot to relax and switch off.

This is a world class getaway for the adventurer. We stayed in the cabins which are on a rocky point on the edge of the sea. These cabins have been showcased in films, travel magazines and media for the past 40 years. The rooms are simple, but the views are amazing.
The food is prepared at the cabins and is simple and good.

Room Tip: The surf is loud, but worth it.

We popped into the Finca Barlovento this week to see something of the beaches-and-mountains Colombia, finding them on the Ecohabs website and lucking out into rooms on the last minute.
The place is NOT a five star hotel - it has no hot water, lunch served, has shared bathrooms for the cabanas, fake swimming pool and no organised water sports. Stay away if you are expecting that.
What you will get, if you do come here is a massive slice of slow life with some spectacular views (see the photos) in what is essentially a family's holiday home. You will also have some great dinner conversation (they do communal dinners and the food is tasty!) with people who also like adventures and have stories to share.
I stayed at the cabaña, which is over the rocks and overlooks the pounding surf. It is completely open to the elements (no glass on the windows) and is a bit like glorified camping. I put towels all over my things to stop the spray from getting in. And I absolutely LOVED it because it reminds me of childhood. Sleeping to the crashing waves and waking up to early sunlight makes me happy.
Fun tip: the golden retriever du maison is a goofy large character called Dali. He is affectionate, alarmingly so, and has a life I can only envy from afar.
