I had a prefixed 9 course menu for a group of 50. They were very prepared and professional, food had its ups and downs but mostly ups. The group was very impressed on the visual effects of every plate. It was mostly molecular food, most very tasty. Wine pairing was very good as well.

We were a big group and some of us very loud and trying to had a great time, difficult to manage but the staff did served us in a great way, ver very professional.

I recommend the 13-course tasting menu with wine pairings. The food is phenomenal, and is prepared with incomparable attention to detail. The smells, textures, colors and flavors of each dish make for an exquisite dining adventure. They provide sensory "moments" in between the courses that don't involve eating in order to allow you to slowly savor your culinary experience. (One example is rubbing your hands with rose petals that contain a softly scented lotion inside of them.) The entire evening, from the food to the drinks to the wait staff, was incredibly special and I recommend it highly.

We went to El Cielo at the suggestion of our local host - disclaimer, she hadn't been there, but had heard it was great - so our expectations were high.
We neglected to do our research ahead of time and so were surprised that there was only a choice of 2 tasting menus. However, as a fan of tasting menus, I was looking forward to our "experience" and we went with the shorter 9-course menu with wines selected by the sommelier.
We got off to a bit of a poor start when we had to wait a good 30 minutes before the first drop of alcohol arrived at our table, and while we were waiting the water we ordered "con gas" arrived "sin gas", but we weren't that bothered by it.
I don't want to spoil the experience for anyone reading this, as it was quite fun not knowing what was coming next, but I do want to say that there was a fish and quinoa dish which was absolutely sensational and was the clear highlight of the meal. But things went a bit downhill from there as our main course (pork belly) was overlooked and surprisingly dry.
But my main complaint came at the end of the meal. One of the waiters (we seemed to meet a different one for each course) arrived with the coffee tray. As with every course, a lot of effort had been put into the presentation, not just of the food itself, but also with the way it was served at the table.
The waiter explained where the coffee was grown and harvested and proceeded to brew the coffee at the table. He then presented each of us with a small packet of the coffee to take home with us. He then left while the coffee was brewing, returning a couple of minutes later to pour it.when he did,he apologised and told us that he had made a mistake, the coffee he had given us to take home was for the other (13-course) tasting menu, and so he took the packets back. We sat there in stunned silence not knowing what to make of this, but we all felt it had tainted our experience... surely the coffee was not so expensive that the restaurant couldn't write-off a small error like that.
Anyway, we drank our coffee and then were served not one, but two desert courses (a bit excessive, in my opinion). Finally, when the final plate was removed we had to wait an age for anyone to come and check in on us. When we were finally able to flag down one of the staff to request the check, we had to wait a further 15 minutes before it arrived at the table, which to my mind was the last straw.

To conclude: on the whole I thought the food was good to excellent, with the double dessert being the only misstep, and the dry pork belly being the only disappointment. However this was offset by the truly excellent fish course.
The wines were good and the cocktails, when they eventually arrived at the table, were enjoyable.
The service was inconsistent - starting off well but dropping off quite dramatically towards the end. There was a man who seemed to be in charge that was very attentive and went to great lengths explaining the courses which he produced, but the others were not nearly as good, particularly the waitress that delivered the cocktails, she was very unfriendly and behaved as though we were really inconveniencing her by asking her anything.
But the episode with the coffee really spoiled the occasion and left us all feeling quite disappointed.

Visited while on holiday, from the beginning to the end the food and service were great. We went for the 13 course taster expires experience with wine pairing. The staff were engaged and knowledgable along with the food being interesting and a real homage to Colombian cuisine. The experience over all is really interesting as some courses aren't even for eating, which as odd as it sounds adds to the enjoyment as it's makes use your senses that you wouldn't normally use to enjoying the meal.

Would highly recommend if you are looking for a foodie experience in medellin.
