“"Lovely"”

Much has already been said, but I'll add my take on this lovely property.

First of all located in the "primo" section of the walled city with walking access to everywhere in close proximity. Within a gated residential condominium complex with 24/7 security, never having to feel safety and security were ever an issue. The townhouse is directly across the street from the wall and the popular "Café del Mar"..... A nightspot where folks gather to watch the amazing sunset over early evening cocktails. As mentioned before the true beauty of this townhouse is that the roof terrace not only looks out at the café but has a birds eye view of the sunset within your own private setting. That aspect itself sets the place apart.

This property that Sandra rents out is not modern, but more reflective of the ambient nature associated with this historic city. The lower floor featuring kitchen, dine in alcove and living room has all of the conveniences of a home that families reside in and not a cookie cutter hotel amenity based floor plan. Her associate Margelis, on arrival will walk you thru the adequately furnished kitchen accessories There is a coffee maker, blender and best of all a filtrated water cooler so ice, potable drinking water etc. is readily available. The first floor is not air conditioned, but turning on the ceiling fans and the floor fan I had absolutely no problem with the temperature. Previous comments regarding mosquitos were not taken lightly, so we brought with us "Johnson Family Care Off Smooth and Dry". Not one bite!!

The second floor housing the bedrooms had perfect AC units and comfortable beds. As mentioned before the master bathroom had low pressure but the hall bathroom with a shower large enough to fit a pool table sustained perfect pressure and has as much hot water as anyone would want ... Trust me, rinsing off a few times a day after walking in the Cartegena heat doesn't require hot water.

Enough has been said about the Terrace ...... We spent three wonderful evenings feeling privileged with cheese, toasted bread and more red wine then I care to admit watching the tourists on the wall during the unforgettable sunsets.

The WiFi worked great on all three floors including the terrace.

The noise level was more like a distant background sound from the street although we were only there Monday to Thursday. I'm sure weekends are more audible.

We never had a mosquito problem, again sprayed often.

**** All floors are connected by a tight spiral staircase with a railing. Tread lightly as navigating after some evening cocktails may be tricky LOL!

***** I booked late, Sandra was clear that she was hoping to get bookings for her place for at least 4 to 5 days since it was "Holy Week" prior to Easter Sunday. We only had a 3 day window so I was fine with the upcharge. I paid $700 .. Still thankful that she accepted my request for a short visit.

“Wonderful home like stay”

We just got back from a week at Sandra's apartment. Our first impression was that it looked old but we knew that ahead of time. This is not a designer/modern apt. The appliances were all in good shape and the fridge was brand new (no rust as mentioned by a previous guest). Each bedroom had good AC, comfy beds and it was very clean and comfortable. In the first floor: living area/dining/kitchen there is no AC but there are ceiling fans and a standing fan. That floor gets very hot and the mosquitoes can be brutal so do bring repellent. The best part was the roof deck at sundown. The ocean breeze was fantastic and the views breath taking. We could only use one of the two showers because the one in the master bedroom had very little pressure and no hot water. The other shower is perfect! The TV only had one working channel but that was not a priority for us. I loved the location but the apt. faces a very noisy street and the traffic officers are constantly blowing their whistles. Luckily the bedrooms have good windows and we slept easily. Cartagena is always busy, especially at night so be prepared for the level of noise. We loved every minute of it and will go back as soon as we can. We walked everywhere from the apt. and my husband bought "desayunos" from the lady vendor across the apt. every morning. If you want authentic, not fancy, easy access, comfortable apt., this is the place to stay! Dealing with Sandra was super easy and Margellis was very sweet. We miss Cartagena already!

“Great location in the old city”

Sandra provided good directions and the housekeeper (Margelis) was there to welcome us. Please note that Margelis does not speak English. The apartment had good security.

It's lively out front (good for people watching). The windows reduce the outdoor sounds. However the air conditioner in main bedroom is old and noisy. A minor issue was that there was no hot water in the kitchen and the en suite shower. The Wi-Fi was ok, but not very fast. The kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, crockery and utensils. The roof terrace is great and a good place to go for the sea breezes.

The apartment is very well located in the old (walled) city and is close to good restaurants, tourist attractions and taxis. We enjoyed our stay.

“Great Old City Apartment”

This beautiful apartment is directly opposite Cafe del Mar and has everything one would need during their stay. It has three levels - from the terrace you look out over the ocean and watch the comings and going of the street below. We really enjoyed our stay and loved wandering the streets of the old city. We also felt safe at all times.

Three things are needed to make it perfect; (1) Shading put on the top terrace (2) air conditioning on lower level (lounge) (3) mosquito netting over the beds...we had to apply DEET before going to sleep.
