The Museum is well organised with a wide variety of artefacts arranged meticulously. The mummies of an ancient era, some of them identified present an impressive display.

Quite a nice surprise. The museum lays out everything about the region in terms of geography, geology, history and culture. The sections on Silk Road and Uyghur culture are most interesting. It gives a comprehensive introduction to the whole region.

I visited the museum a couple of times in five days because there's a lot to see about the regional cultures. It actually is a small museum but there really is a lot to see and read. Most of the display descriptions are in English so I had no excuse to hurry. Public restrooms, no place to eat inside, bookstore and jade shop inside, easy access by taxi and easy taxi pick-up spot out front.
