Just a landmark. Nothing special.
It is the largest steel sculpture in China in memory of May Fourth Movement。

The core of this movement is selective adoption of Western ideals of "Mr. Science" and "Mr. Democrat" in order to strengthen the new nation in 1919.

But are we succeed? HMM...........

I like the sculpture and it is a nice place to start your walk along the coas. The square is easy to reach by metro.

Located near the sea and it has a spectacular view at night. Can’t miss it! It could be very crowded at times though. Conveniently located.

May 4th square is on metro line 3. The statue itself isn’t amazing and just very typical of Chinese squares but it’s right by the harbour and Olympic torch. The harbour is a really nice walk and has a market (though everyone is selling the same stuff). Walking along the opposite way from the stalls, we found a few places to have lunch. There is a Starbucks here and a German bar called always...great pizza and meat platter.

Nothing special, clean and crowded when I went during the October holiday. A monument to celebrate the young people's, certainly looks modern. But nothing much going on there other than the required photo/selfie, with the red structure in the background. A case of seen it, done it( walked around it I guess), got the tee-shirt....moving on now.
