Jinan, China is known for it's natural springs and the home of Confucius who taught in 242 BC. Now to put that in relative terms, Alexander the Great was making his conquests all over the world.
The condition of the Confucian school and home grounds in Jinan are manicured and maintained to an unbelievable degree considering the age of the grounds and buildings. I was in Greece and went to see where Aristotle taught which was about the same time as Confucius and there was nothing more than a 90 degree corner section of a building, about 2 feet high an each leg of the 90 degree corner were at peak tapered from 2 feet to 6 inches. To me very disappointing. But in Jinan
The whole school and his home where he lived were like he lived and taught there last year. It is worth the trip to see that we'll preserved building and park like grounds where it is housed. There is even some trees dating back over 2,000 years on his property.
