“A recommended hotel to stay at Shenzhen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 February 2012

I booked this hotel via Agoda for two days. This hotel has a very great location. The subway gate is in front of the hotel, and this hotel only few minutes from Shenzhen station by taxi. The hotel is also only few blocks from Dongmen Pedestrian Street for shopping and eat. The hotel services and room is also satisfying. The room is spacious with comfy beds. I really recommend people to stay at Days Inn when visiting Shenzhen

I chose this hotel mainly for its incredible location-- right at the very hub of all the shopping/eating, around the Dongmen area. It is only a few steps from the D exit of the Laojie metro station.

There are 8 storeys to the hotel. Unfortunately the hotel is mostly smoking, except for the 5th floor which is non smoking. The 5th floor is also where the western restaurant/ breakfast is located, so you may expect some additional noise and traffic. We were initially given a room on the 5th floor ( since we requested non smoking through our Agoda booking), but decided to ask for another room due to proximity of the restaurant. Note that the restaurant close at 10pm so it should be OK at night, however since breakfast is done there as well, I imagine there could be some unintended early waking! The good thing is that even on the smoking floors-- we were on the 8th floor, there was not much of a smoke smell. In the room, very minimal hint of smoke at all, so did not bother us.

We reserved a deluxe room (the second lowest grade).. room was nice, very similar to what is shown on website, though perhaps not as clean and new as depicted. Very spacious, LCD TV with a few English channels. They provide bathrobes, slippers, two small bottles of drinking water. There is a safe in the room. Carpets perhaps can do with replacement or a shampoo, but I guess it is OK if you are wearing slippers. The front desk staff were very friendly. I am not quite sure how good their English level is as I was interacting with them in Mandarin.

We did not eat in their restaurants. All around the hotel are lots of shops, as well as some eating establishments. If you don't mind walking, it is very walkable all the way to the Hong Kong border at LuoHu.. you will pass through many many shopping centres along the way. It is only two subway stops, so not far at all, although you would not want to do that with luggage. The subway is nowhere near as crowded as in HK, so it was much more pleasant, and carrying luggage is not an issue.

Walking in another direction can bring you to a very high end shopping centre (called mixC). That is also another two subway stops away.

All in, highly recommended for Shenzhen.

I booked via Wyndham & opted for their "Best Rate Guarantee", after several problems with their website I emailed Kate Morgan in Wydham's Customer Services department who sorted out my booking for a double non smoking room at RMB 482 per night. She advised me that all rooms were non smoking

On arrival at the hotel the check in staff said they only have twin non smoking rooms not double so I agreed to the twin room, the carpet was fairly dirty & the internet stopped working every 2 minutes without fail, apart from that it was fairly clean

4 days after my arrival at the hotel I was surprised to learn that the so called "Best Rate" was not the best rate

For RMB 788 the hotel was offering 2 nights in a double room with breakfast, so RMB394 per night versus RMB482 from Wyndham

I checked out & checked back in directly with the hotel at the lower rate & asked the hotel to retrospectively honour the "best rate guarantee"

They told me they were a separate company & I needed to speak to Wyndham, I have so far emailed Kate at Wyndam 4 times & received no response whatsover from her or any of her colleagues, which is annoying especially considering that Kate signs off her emails "count on me"

Positives of the hotel:
Location. Exit D Lao Jie subway stop, up the escalator & its 20 meters to your left
Location. Shopping
Location. Good Chinese restaurants open 24 hours directly opposite
Steven the Bell Boy speaks good English & is helpful

Negatives of the hotel:
Carpets not very clean in many of the rooms however Lasky the Manager did move me to a clean room & allow me a late check out
One of the lifts was broken for 2 days which left 1 lift servicing too many people
Internet cuts out every few minutes, it is difficult to do any work both wireless & fixed line

If I stay here again I would book direct at the hotels own website (www.daysinnsz.com) & avoid the disappointment, frustration & uneccessary expense of Wyndham who in my experience cannot be "counted on"

My husband and I recently spent 4 days/nights in the Days inn.
My decision was made after reading reviews and making a decision based on what was important to us.
As we were only in Shenzhen for a few days, locatin was imperative. I reviewed around 10 hotels and this was my choice. If you arrive via train from HKG Airport. Simply take the A23 bus from the airport outside Terminal two. Be sure to purchase an Octopus card at the info counter in the APT. keep them as you have a deposit included too.
you can use this card for bus and rail so very handy not having to look for cash.
Get off this bus at Shensui, then take the Lou Whu train to Lou Whu.
Get off and clear customs/gain Visa at the Chinese border. You will see a previous entry from me on how to clear customs and gain visa.. quite simple really - be sure to have RMB.
when you get off at Luo Whu look for the metro and take a train to Lao Jie.. only 2 stops away. Get off and look for Exit D. go up the escalater and once you get onto the street - look left and it is a mere 20 steps away.
the hotel is 3star, but is quite adequate. with a western style restaurant on level 5 - which is simple but fine.
we had both Breakfast and Dinner most days here and was fine. Please note if you want to use the phone in the room, as I did to call a friend living in Shenzhen - you need to ask reception to 'open the ine' a wee bit odd.. but hey - thats the process. By the way the beds are very comfy for China too.
Front office staff were very friendly as was the Conciege who was excellent with English!
this hotel is not 5 star, but you are not paying the 5 star $$$.
I will definitely stay here again.
The location is Dong Men, and boy what a shopping haven... much better in my opinnion that the Luo Wu commercial centre.. far less noise and hassle and we felt very comfortable walking around this magic shopping precent. be sure you go out to shop at night... an extravaganza of bright lights! such entertainment itself.

Shenzhen itself is fantastic... Shenlen road is the main road.. and if you travel (by bus) you pass so many fantastic sky scrapers and shopping malls... I was totally surprised at the clean and modern city!

try it!

Room Tip: non smoking

This is a nice Hotel with a good location near Shenzhen / Honghkong Border. A good choice for Business traveler and a great BReakfast service. Internet was free and the Room charge was reasonable. I did really like it and the Service at the reception was fast and nice. I have arrived very late after midnight but there was no problem at all.
