Stayed there 1 night on april 17th... The hotel is well maintained, 40 floors if I remember correctly.

I had my first suite in 17th floor, at 9pm they were doing some renovation on top of my suite, request to be moved and I was granted a royal suite on 38th floor.

Overall service is great, the Pinay manager did a great job, very warm and helpful, can't same the same about one of the Chinese check in clerk.

Pleasent surprise is the restaurant near lobby, had best burger ever there.

300 rmb transfer from Hotel to HKG airport.

For $100 a night, very good value.

I enjoyed this hotel the people were friendly and we never touched a door while we were there except for our room door. We paid around $70 for our business suite. which was very clean! One thing I noticed that stood out was people were very friendly in helping you when you want to get out and visit the city as well as fro us getting to different places for business.

READ THIS:

We had to get to the Hong Kong Airport by 6:30am and we asked the male concierge for assistance he stated it takes to long to take a standard taxi and you'll need to take the shuttle limo to get there in a fast manner. so we asked how much and he stated 1080 yuan which is about $160 so I paid it because it was better than missing our flight. I thought about it and asked another assistance and they told us we can take the taxi becuase it will get us there in the same time fame. I told him what the man said and she got our money back and told us he was scamming us because it only cost 550 yuan which is about $70 dollars. Do not trust the first answer from anyone there always double check the answer

Overall the stay was excellent and we are going back in the end of the year.

We travel to Asia often and usually stay in the Hyatt/starwood type hotels especially in China. This trip I decided to see if we could save ourselves some money so we booked into mostly Chinese 4-5 star hotels. I have to say from the moment we arrived the staff on every level from check in, cleaning, restaurants etc were really friendly and eager to please, in most cases second guessing your request before you told them. This was probably the best customer service I have received at any hotel in China since my first visit almost twenty years ago.
One other interesting point about this hotel, you get the room for a true 24hrs so if you check in late ie 7pm you can stay until 7pm the next day for no additional charge. We found the loction a bit lacking but taxis were plentiful and cheap

We stayed at the 999 Royal Suites in February 2011, over the Chinese New Year weekend. We travel with two children, a 2 and a 4 year old, and chose the hotel because of its proximity to the Hong Kong border (actually, we missed out on staying in Hong Kong because we didn’t book early enough) and also because of the size of the rooms. In the past we had found it difficult to squeeze into the notoriously small Hong Kong hotel rooms and thought that this would be a good alternative.

I will not comment on the foolishness of our decision as to crossing the border each day, this was not the hotel’s fault. The hotel is about a 5 minute (15 – 20RMB) ride in a taxi from the border. After that, the length of the border crossing and subsequent trip into Hong Kong can take as little as 50 minutes to one hour or, if you are unlucky, much longer.

The hotel was disappointing, disorganised and grotty, definitely not the advertised five star standard.

On check in, we clarified that we booked the suite and asked if one was available with two beds. We were told there wasn’t a room like that available. We then asked if the sofa on the photos was a sofa bed we could fold out for our four year old and were told that it was. We were checked in and sent to our room. When we arrived, the cleaning crew was still in the room. Now, this is the point where I should say that the hotel proudly advertises that it has dispensed with strict check out times and instead charges for rooms on a 24-hourly basis – ie if you check in at two, you check out at two, etc. While this may be a good idea, its implementation is sorely lacking.

So here we are standing outside our hotel room waiting for the maid to finish (why send us up if the room is not ready??). My husband looks through the door and asks whether the sofa does actually fold out. We are told no, and no sofas are fold out. So then we spoke to the maid (who actually spoke English), and who was interpreting for us with some sort of supervisor. In the end we were told there would be a room available with twin beds, but on a smoking level.

Lesson number 2 – squeeze into a small bed rather than go to the smoking level. The sheets, the carpets, our hair and skin reeked after a night’s sleep on level 9, and the following night was even worse. But if that was the only problem, I would not be writing this scathing review.

We headed back downstairs to change our card and were given a new one with no problems. Having arrived in our new room, surprise – it was still being made up. We decided to give up and drop off our luggage and head to Hong Kong at that point. On our return in the evening we finally properly checked the room. The stains on the dirty carpet were so bad that I did not dare walk around without shoes. The shower corner was covered in mould (see our photos). The drainage in both the sink and the shower had problems and so you would end up standing in the ankle deep water in the shower; or have to fiddle with the drain with your hand in the water where you brushed your teeth.

A kitchenette was part of the set up; but you have to call the reception to get any kind of equipment (including plates or a teaspoon) to use the facilities. Given the state of the bathroom, I would not have used the kitchen anyway. No hot water in the sink in the kitchenette, so had to wash out milk bottles in the aforementioned clogged up sink in the bathroom.

I also saw on some of the photos that there was a door separating the sleeping area from the sitting room. Not so in ours – with a dirty smelly curtain between the beds and the sitting area, and a TV on a turn table right in the middle. Maybe we just got given the worst room because we asked to change….

There is a convenience store just next to the hotel which is great for extra water etc, but it is pretty basic and very Chinese in what it supplies.

If you do have to stay there, one of the interesting bonuses are the outfits the elevator/door staff are made to wear. Think Mozart with a twist…

Yes, there was enough room for all of us to stay, set up the cot for the baby and still have room to move around. The toiletries provided were adequate. The bed was comfortable by Chinese standards. The sheets seemed clean (although given the smell of smoke it was hard to tell). It was not expensive. And the check out was relatively fast. Thank goodness for that. On our return home we booked our stays in Hong Kong for the next six months, so we do not have to ever undertake this option again.
