Jin'aozhou Tower
Reviewed 6 December 2017

it is a long way to the top , with not much to see but the view its self. The inside has nothing but the stairs to the next floor .

The pagoda is surrounded by a small garden, with many interesting stone statues. The graden is well maintained, and it will look beautiful when all the blossoms appear, which should happen early next month. After you leave the pagoda, turn right and walk along the pathway next to the river. There is an interesting golden statue, and a small temple at the end of the short walk. After you leave the pagoda, Ke Yuan Gardens and Museum are about a 20 minute walk away. My advice would be to go to the pagoda early (the gates open at 08:30), and then walk back to the bridge, and then go to Ke Yuan Garden for a longer visit.Be warned that the pagoda and Ke Yuan garden are in Guangcheng Town, so taxi drivers may be reluctant to take you back to Dongcheng. This often happens to me in Dongcheng. Taxi drivers seem to prefer staying in the own town!

The tower and small garden are adjacent to the riverbank. The tower on several visits is always padlocked, hence preventing entrance. The grounds have reminents of assorted stone statuary, most likely from multiple sources as the styles are unrelated to the tower. There is a small museum which has several dragonboat models. These are worth a brief viewing. The tower grounds seem to be artificially constructed. The tower, in and of itself, is a poor surviving example of those in far better condition and easily seen elsewhere in Guangzhou province.

Free entrance to the small garden which has seats and tables overlooking the river. In the garden are numerous stone artifacts and of course the pagoda. Sadly the entrance was barred with a padlocked gate.
