This is an interesting historic property that was previously a private mansion. The main level has many of the original rooms with exquisite details like elaborate molding and beautiful wood floors. My favorite spots were 1) the Shackleton bar where you can see pictures of the famous explorer and enjoy a pisco sour at the same bar he visited once upon a time and 2) the conservatory where we had a delicious breakfast underneath the twisted vines. The rooms are quite simple but comfortable. The staff is very gracious and works hard to provide good service

I was in the Hotel for 2 nights, I arrived late s I did not remark that the room has no real window but a little one at the level of feet of 50 cmm. Inside you feel like in a sarcophage. The location is good but it seems to me that the hotel lives on that leaving open a lot of details: medium quality breakfast, the personal do not accept any critic, etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the 3rd floor !! Never in the second floor.

Dear Alejandro, there are two rooms on the hotel with that King of Windows because of the estructure of the building that cant be modify, is really that the window are low but can be opened without problem and give the room enough natural light and ventilation when is necesary, is not the same tan a sarcophage. Most of the people dont have problem with this but we understand that it can be uncomfortable for some people, we are going to warn the guest before confirming this rooms. I would like to know more about your comments of the personal that don´t accept critics we think that Constructive criticism is necessary to improve, who is not able to receive and retransmit them to management should not be in our hotel please give details at gerencia@hotelnogueira.com
best regards,

I would like to review this establishment as a hotel and in a separate review as a restaurant. This building reeks of history, which you can read about separately, but suffice to say that it was originally built as a mansion for the wife of one of the founding pioneers of Punta Arenas, Jose Nogueira, and later became a very high class social club for many, many years before becoming the present hotel. So it maintains many of the features of a mansion, like high ceilings in several rooms, large swing open windows, wood floors in some rooms, etc. but of course with that comes some disadvantages, like poor acoustic insulation from floors above, or through the windows which look out onto the Main Street in town. But you can request a room on the third floor, in the back wing, which have no floors above, and whose windows look out over a quieter area. The hotel is very clean, the front desk and housekeeping staff are very polite and responsive, the rooms have a fridge-bar, hot water radiator heaters that work very well, and which you can control completely, and Wi-Fi. The included breakfast was more than adequate, 3 kinds of juice, hot tea and coffee, cereals, eggs to order, sliced ham, cheese, and salami, fresh fruit, thick slices of whole wheat or white bread which you can toast right there, and always two or three strudel or cobbler type pastries. All bread and baked goods are made on premise. The nicest part of breakfast is eating in the "Pergola", or Conservatory, which is a long sunroom, glass enclosed open to the light of day. You can also have lunch and dinner here. It takes you back to the nineteenth century. Centrally located right on the plaza, you can walk everywhere in minutes. The Shackleton Bar is worth visiting for sushi and a pisco sour just to see the sketches of the famous odyssey and sit in the Old English style library. This not your Hilton, Sheraton, or Dream hotel, but if you are looking for a Boutique Hotel with lots of history and comfort, this is the place.

Room Tip: If you plan to sleep late in the morning, request a 3rd floor room in the rear of the building.

Nice little charming hotel in Punta Arenas. It's part of a historic house once belonging to Sara Braun, one of the city's more famous citizens from several decades ago.

Stayed in the hotel for a week, and we found the staff - from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the chambermaids all to be extremely friendly and accommodating with all our needs.

The pergola is cozy and charming place to enjoy breakfast (as well as lunch or dinner).

The hotel's location is also ideal, right in the center of town, and only a few blocks from the straits of Magellan.

Looking forward to our return visit one day in the near future!

Very nice hotel in central part of city. Small, clean, comfortable rooms. Good breakfast, friendly staff, very safe location, near a large park and other interesting architecture. Staff was very helpful with parking bikes in their (small) parking lot, getting taxi's, asking questions, etc. Highlight was the Shackleton bar, great dinner and interesting drinks. Would stay there again happily.
