English speaking staff, nice restaurant and well prepared food. Go for the 'poor man's steak' and let it surprise you.

If you want the real experience of a typical Magallanes spring lamb cooked slowly on a rack over coals, this the place. When you order this dish, it comes in three separate servings: first the ribs, with juicy meat and well seasoned fat on the rib bones, then comes the leg portion, which is more like a lamb roast, and is really a generous portion. Then just when you think you can't eat more, the shoulder cut is served, which is bony, but very tasty, and thankfully a reasonable portion. We added the proverbial Chilean salad (tomatoes, onions, and parsley), avocado slices, and of course excellent Chilean wine, pisco sours to start, and the excellent local beer. A great experience, prices comparable to similar restaurants, and excellent service by our waiter, Hector.

Took a trip to Punta Arenas with my parents to celebration their 50th wedding anniversary (where they got married). After an extremely disappointing meal at the Cabo de Hornos restaurant the night before (both the food and the service), we came to Los Ganaderos on the evening of the actual anniversary date the following night. Could not be happier with the food and the service. Hector our waiter was great, took into account the special occasion, and made every effort to make it a special evening for my parents. For that, as their son, I am extremely grateful, and they now have a perennial customer whenever I make it down to the wonderful far corner of the world that is Magallanes.

Best spit-roasted lamb chop ever. Seriously. The picture doesn't do it justice. Succulent, flavorful, heavenly. Burnt fat never tasted so good.

The lamb order comes in three rounds: the rib chop first (ask for the fat to be extra crisp, it's to die for), then you're served a bit of leg, then I believe shoulder. Savor it when served. Dream about it later.

It must also be noted that their beef empanadas are divine. The real deal. Make sure to make it part of your order.

The wine list is thorough and reasonably priced. Our bottle of Chilean Cab, recommended by Hector, was outstanding. The sides are tasty, and the chilean salad a must. Can't comment on dessert as we were too full to have any!

Thank you Los Ganaderos for a truly memorable evening celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We hope to travel the 6000 miles and return again soon!

Punta Arenas is almost at the "end of the world" so to speak, so while you will find awesome spots to eat, bear in mind the population in Punta Arenas does not sustain expensive eateries by itself, so everything you find will have some tweaks to meet tourist tastes.

Parilla Los Ganaderos offers a great parilla style restaurant (grilled game, meats, etc.) A lot of people have never eaten lamb before and they mistake it for something similar to beef. It is not, while it is a very tasty type of meat you have to eat it shortly after coming out of the grill. Otherwise the fatty tissue will begin to harden and the meat will began to whisper some sort of spoiled milk taste (I'm exaggerating, but somewhat like that). Also, this meat once cooked will NEVER taste the same if you reheat it. So if you are going to order lamb, make sure it has just left the grill or that it is specially cooked for you. Otherwise you will not have the same experience and therefore you'll read some of the critiques below.

If you don't want lamb, no one eats lamb twice in a week. They have beef, pork, fish and chicken dishes. One thing not to miss (here or anywhere in Chile) is to open your order with empanadas, either cheese or ground beef, etc. You'll love them.

This steakhouse doesn't open until 8 PM. We had a nice evening here; but don't be in a hurry, you are here for the evening. Service was initially prompt but as the restaurant filled up with patrons, it became difficult to get a waiter's attention.
I had what they called a fillete but it was not a tenderloin, more like a rib eye. They cut their meat differently than in North America. It was cooked to medium rare as I had ordered and was quite good. My wife had the lamb that they featured and she was quite happy with her meal.
