The staff at Sam So are delightful! This is my second time in Siem Reap and while the guesthouse where I stayed last time was clean and in the same neighborhood on the quieter side of the river, the staff at my last guesthouse wasn't so friendly.

Sam So, his wife and all the other staff members are warm, welcoming and very helpful. Not to mention they quite possibly have the 2 cutest kids in Cambodia! Rooms are clean, A/C and hot water both worked well and they put new drinking water bottles in your room each day. Breakfast is good and generous as well.

I never bother to write reviews but I think Sam So really deserves all the rave review it gets. I highly recommend every budget traveler to stay here.

Room Tip: If you come in the hot season (although it is always pretty hot) it is worth the extra few bucks for...

We had two great nights at the family run guest house. We came in by taxi from Poipet. Mrs Soveathy was very helpful in making sure we knew what to do, how to get there and how much we should pay. Arrived to a warm welcome and showed us a great air conditioned room with fridge.
They were extremely helpful in settling us in and arranging tours etc for us. There is a great BBQ just across the road where you cook your own in a small cooker/boiler withhot coals under to provide the heat. A great experience. Sam was also a very hospitable man and their two kids are something to see. About 1 and 2 years old. The guest house is set back off the road and in a little community. Your excellent breakfast is cooked by one of the family members next door. We would recommend it to old and young travelers.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to be good.

This family run guesthouse is a very good place to stay!!!, you would get more than what you are paying for not because of the rooms that they offer but because of the service that they provide, me and my wife had a blast in Siem Reap because of Sam So and Sotheavy, they made our itinerary without even charging us a single $1, they gave us the best tuktuk driver named "T", and they were able to answer all our questions with regard to overland crossings by bus in cambodia (which was way updated than what i read in the internet).

Sam So and Sotheavy would go out of their way to help you in Siem Reap.

I cannot put into words the gratitude that i have for both of them since they really helped me and my wife ( upon arrival in Poipet until the pick-up in Siem Reap) make our honeymoon special.

So, i really appreciate the hospitality, those conversations over Angkor Beer were the best man! We are already planning our next trip to Siem Reap, so I'll see you soon!

Ronald

Room Tip: rooms in the middle are quiet.

Stay here!!! The friendliness of the owners just might have been the most hospitable experience in my whole 3 months of travel. We arrived very late without a reservation but it was no problem. They accommodated us with a large, clean room at a very affordable price. The owner Sam always has a huge smile on and tries very hard to remember his guests names. The wife was so kind and more than happy to help us with transportation onward. The rooms are basic but fair for the price and MOST importantly they are clean.

Our family stayed here in Feb 2012 for one week. We absolutely loved this guesthouse and they really made us feel at home. The guesthouse is located within walking distance of the markets and old town area of Siem Reap. It is slightly further than some of the other guesthouses from this area, but still an easy walk. It is set off the main street and has a very quiet and pleasant location. The neighborhood was fine and we felt very safe walking even at night.

The rooms are basic, but they were very clean. They also serve a very nice free breakfast each morning. But the best thing about this guesthouse is the family that runs it. They go out of their way to make sure that you have the best stay possible. They also help arrange any tours or transportation that you need. I highly recommend that you have them book your Angkor temple transportation with their tuk-tuk driver. He was fantastic and it really is a great way to see the ruins via tuk-tuk. It is a short pleasant ride to the temples and very easy to get around through all of the crowds.

Angkor is absolutely amazing, Siem Reap is a very nice town and Sam So Guesthouse is a great place to stay. We had the time of our lives and can't recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: The guesthouse doesn't have a pool, but don't worry, for just a few dollars you can use the...
