This part of our trip was unfortunately not as smooth as we had expected. In spite of being informed by email that the boats are wheelchair accessible it was not the case, at least not in mine.

The boat had 4-5 steps at the lower level and the wheelchair had to be physically lifted to get in and out. The 2 concerned staff on and off the boat just shrugged their shoulders and did not offer any assistance when my daughter approached them for help. We had not experienced this kind of behaviour anywhere in Austria before and it really came as a shock. Anyway, finally my son, with the help of some other helpful tourists, managed to get me in and out, which was quite a task.

We were taking the boat from St. Gilgen to visit the other villages around the lake and bought full day tickets costing more than 20€, but since I did not want to bother others with the huge exercise several times we gave up the idea of visiting Strobl and returned to St. Gilgen after seeing St. Wolfgang only.

No doubt, the view from the boat is beautiful and worth visiting. The 3 stars that I’m giving is only for the scenic beauty all around else our experience was very disappointing as far as the boat and its staff are concerned.

Stopover at St Wolfgang on our way to Salzburg. Took a boat trip to St Gilgen and back to St Wolfgang. Both town are very picturesque. Had a very nice pull burger just outside St Wolfgang. We overspend our time here but it’s so worth it.

It’s well worth taking a boat trip from St Wolfgang. We went on two ships, which were both well-appointed, with a little bar on board. The views were delightful, and the service regular enough to make planning a day quite flexible.

Fabulous way to see the lake and for just under €8 you can get from St Gilgen to St Wolfgang. Large comfortable boat with seating inside and out and a small bar serving hot drinks, beer etc etc. Love the sailing and some amazing views on a very sunny day. Highly recommended.

A ticket purchased for the boat allows a great opportunity to travel to the various drop off locations on the beautiful lake with access to a cablecar and cogwheel railway ride to the top of a significant mountain. A day ticket will allow you to go from stop to stop or simply enjoy the lake by doing a round trip. The boat is pristine and serves drinks and snacks. The staff were very helpful with strollers and wheelchairs. Highlights - St Wolfgang

A smaller lake in the lake chain near Salzburg Wolfgangsee is a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains, with clear water and a picturesque town on its bank. It was part of our lake tour day trip from Salzburg.

The Wolfgangsee (lake) is absolutely stunning. Turquoise colored water, beautiful lush mountains ... I could go on. The wonderful thing about this boat is that it stops at several small villages -- like St. Gilgen and others. The time schedule is very reasonable. If you want to hop on and off throughout the day, (time permitting) it is cheaper to buy a day ticket (almost 20 euro). It's worth it. Side note: You can buy drinks on board and a few snack-like things. It's is a perfect way to see the entire beauty of the lake.

There’s a stretch between Furburg and Ried-Hallstein (nr Wolfgang) where cycling is only possible by heading up a 200mtr hill - very steeply. We opted for the ferry which happily takes bikes and had a rest while the boat took the strain! Great regular services all around the lake.

It was grand to take the relaxing tour of the pretty lake. Surrounded by soaring Alpine peaks, the vistas were superb.

Leaving and approaching the various towns we had lovely views of the townscapes, each attractive and unique.
