Don't drive by this museum after grabbing your weekend adult beverages next door at the liquor store! Fantastic gardens out back and inside, what a treat for any boat lover or visitor that grew up on the lakes.

Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum in Alexandria, MN has a new name...Legacy of the Lakes Museum...celebrating our lake traditions and legacies and committed to their preservation for future generations. This museum is gorgeous if you like this kind of thing. It is very well displayed. If you happen to be visiting the museum while Bruce is there, he will make sure no questions go unanswered! The museum also hosts weddings and other events in the newly expanded outdoor gardens. It is beautiful!

Several areas of the outdoor gardens with waterall, lake backdrop, beautiful gardens, etc. were the perfect setting to take portrait pictures of our family to celebrate our parents 50th Wedding Anniversary! Absolutely beautiful!
We did not have the opportunity to enjoy the museum, but heard wonderful things about it....even from those not really interested in it. They were wowed!

The display of specialized and older wood boats is breathtaking and brings you back to the early days of boating in America.
This tour was captivating and one of a kind.
The hand made wooden boats are amazing to see.

Stopped by after visiting the nearby Kensington Runestone museum. This museum has some great examples of the varies boats and motors from the past. Most of these boats have been fully restored and well maintained. The wood boats such as the Chris-Crafts were especially impressive.
