My husband and I stayed at the Castle in the Country for a weekend getaway from metro Detroit. I found the inn from the Select Registry after staying at an amazing B&B in Florida that was part of the registry. We stayed in the Crowning Suite. The inn was very beautiful - the old home is very nicely restored. There is a main level for checking in that also has drinks and snacks out at all times (Keurig with coffee/tea, trail mix, even popcorn to microwave). Our room was two floors up. It has a king bed with a whirlpool tub/shower combination. It also had a fire place which was awesome. The inn even supplied a start log so that we can start our own fire! I was surprised they allowed this for safety but it was really nice. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were soft and the pillows were good. We were overall happy with the room. Breakfast is served in the second building on the property which is a short walk or drive down from the main house. You are allowed to pick a 9, 9:30 or 10 am time for breakfast. They also inquired about any dietary restrictions upon check in and tried to accommodate any restrictions we had. The breakfast overall was good but not great - it started with a decent pasty and then a main course (one day was sweet and one day savory). There was also fruit, orange juice, coffee and tea each day. We much prefer to have at least some choice in our breakfast - other inns we've stayed in either have a small buffet of a few options or give you two options (sweet or savory). We do wish there was a bit more variety and we would have been more satisfied. The location is out in the country for sure. I honestly should've researched this a bit more before booking. It is about 30 minutes from Kalamazoo and 50-60 minutes from GR. Since there was limited activities immediately around the inn, we spent a day exploring Kalamazoo and a day in GR. It is possible but a bit of a drive. All in all, the inn was very pretty and service was good - we won't be staying again due to lack of breakfast options and the location.

Dear Guest,
Thanks so much for your review of our property. We are a Select Registry property, one of only 5 in the state of Michigan and we love to hear that you heard of us because of a fellow Select Registry property in Florida. It's also good to hear that you enjoyed the Crowning suite and appreciate the concern for safety with the original woodburning fireplace. Our guests safety is the main reason why we use only these logs which provide just the amount of ambiance with a safer burning time. :-)
We always recommend that our guests talk with our innkeepers at checkin about the menu items that we will be serving during their visit with us. Although we do try to make sure our menu provides a wide array of guests preferences, it's always helpful for us hear from our guests about any modifications they would like and we do our best to accommodate those.
We really appreciate the feedback regarding our location. Because we realize that it may take more time researching our country destination, we have created our Adventure Map and we always give our guests the inside scoop about the closest places and they are encouraged to Add Our Mobile App so that our 30 mile radius map will give our guests the best options for enjoying all of wineries, craft breweries and all the amazing restaurants that surround us.

Our Fall Visit at Castle was amazing! The colors of fall were absolutely beautiful. As always we had a perfect stay. Its so nice to see Ruth and Herb and the rest of the staff at Castle. We love to travel but Castle is our favorite place to stay. There is so much to love about Castle and thats why we stay her so much. Ruth and Herb are the best hosts you could ask for, always friendly and helpful with our stay. The staff is amazing, always there for whatever need. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are breathtaking and are perfect for a walk through the woods. Its such a great experience every time we come up. We have been doing this for over 4 years now and have never had a bad experience. That why we always come back. Every stay is 100% perfect from begining to end. Thank you Castle for another wonderful year of visits, we can't wait to come up and see everyone in 2018.

My husband surprised me with a 2 night getaway at this awesome bed and breakfast. Yes, I went all by myself!! Just me and my books in the Golden Tower room. The room was fantastic, the service exceptional, and the thing that impressed me the most was the innkeepers knew me by name, knew why I was there and treated me like one of the family. The breakfast was delicious! I enjoyed appetizers and a horse-drawn carriage ride through the grounds. If anyone out there needs to just "get away for a few days" I highly recommend Castle in the Country Bed & Breakfast Inn. It was just what I needed to refresh my mind, my body and my soul!

We enjoyed our room and the lovely breakfasts. They are very few places of this quality in the area. We particularly enjoyed the night we brought in our own dinner and ate out in the screened in gazebo (read no bugs) under the twinkle lights!

Booked the Romeo and Juliet Suite. Very Romantic and inspirational. Ruth was very helpful with suggestions on where to go and dinner places. Breakfast was great and very original. Would definitely stay here again.
