“Not worth the money!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2012

It was old, danky and not at all maintained properly.
The sofas were stained. The bathroom was old and not too clean. The Tv was old and used. The bathtub was ok, but the shower wasnt! The room reeked of cigarettes, we were told there was no smoke-free room. The service boys cleaned the room again and again, still the smell did not go. On the last day, we found, old cigarette stubs on the washing machine!!
Not worth the money we spent.
Best feature: Clean white sheets!

This is the fourth time of staying at this hotel / appartments since 2006, & it hasn't changed.
Arranged airport transfer with hotel for arrival at a cost of 60 dhs, & was met by a very helpful guy.
Check-in nice & smooth, with friendly staff, although coffee shop closed at 22:00 (arrival at 01:30), was not a problem to get bottled water. Taxi on return to airport, 20 dhs on a 'night-time rate'.
Room, as always, was clean. Slight problem with tv, or should i saw satalite receiver, but maintanence was there to sort out within minutes, & no problems thereafter.
Although the place is listed as 'de luxe', don't expect the luxury of a normal 4star hotel,,,it's better to use this place a base to exlpore the city.
All the one bedroomed & studio appartments are self-catering, although the coffee shop is open from 07:00 until 22:00.
The kitchen / kitchenettes have the basic ammenities - kettle, toaster, 2 ring hob, oven, microwave, washing machine, crokery, cooking utensils & pans. There are also tumble driers on each floor for communal use.
Housekeeping staff are friendly, & rooms cleaned daily. Towels are changed daily, & bed linen every other day. The air-con can be a little 'fierce'.
There is a roof top pool, cleaned regularly, & pool towels are provided. There is also a small gym on the top floor (4th), & also a small sauna in the gents changing area - i'm 'assuming' there is the same in the ladies changing area (?).
Lamcy Plaza is directly opposite the Al Faris hotel / appartments. I have seen this listed as the 'famous' Lamcy Plaza, but i'm afraid i have no idea what makes it famous!!.
Very different to the usual type of mall in the UK, as it's kind of units, rather than shops. However, there is a supermarket on the top floor (4th), which you should be able to buy all your needs for your stay. There are the usual fast food outlets in Lamcy Plaza, but a good selection of cheap / reasonabaly priced restaurants on the door step. Taxi rank outside the main entrance of Lamcy Plaza, or can easily be arranged through reception.
It was around 2008/9 that the management completely changed (not sure if change of ownership though), & the coffee shop was introduced. There are also a couple of computers for guest use in coffee shop. There is now 24hr security patrol, & life guard for the pool.
Towels in rooms are now new, as they have 'Al Faris' embroided into them. However, the rooms are 'tired' & could seriously do with an upgrade, small patches of mould in bathroom around bath on the grout etc, & under the sill of the marble wash basin surround chipped. However, it's clean.
The rooms are on the dark side, & there is definatly no view, especially from the studio appartments. This is because an appartment block (residential) was built on either side of Al Faris in 2006.
Saying all that negative ness, you don't go to Dubai to sit in your hotel room or appartment for the duration of your trip. It is an excellent base to explore the city, & just use it as a base.
Will i use again - yes.

The staff of the hotel came to pick us up from the airport and our journey to Dubai started. We wanted a hotel apartment because we wanted a kitchen as we were going to stay there for over two weeks. The rooms were clean and had all the amenities including vessels. Ofcourse we did not used them much. The apartment felt like a second home with room a room service! Our apartment had a nice smelling closet and a shoe rack. I like to observe these kind of details. The location was very central of you want to visit places mostly in the city. In the vicinity there are restaurants serving Chinese, Indan and Continental food. You name it and we can find it there. Right opposit the hotel apartment is Lamcy plaza mall which has food court. You can find regular fast food joints there. Overall it was a pleasant trip and I would recommend staying at this place.
