Mass market hotel.
Very money orientated : at my arrival the concierge welcome phrase was "we need a credit card".
The breakfast is a very average-low quality compared to the image and cost. You get your coffee at the end of the meal.
A lot of children. Noise from the corridor in the room.
WIFI extra payment (I consider this should be free).
Large, comfortable and well equipped rooms.
The beach restaurant is good, the lounge bar excellent. Excellent beach service.

Wow! what an amazing time we had here. It was a birthday treat for my 40th and we certainly wasn't disappointed. The whole experience was really amazing and the hotel has some lovely touches (rose petals and tea lights along the corridors), there is a gorgeous smell around the hotel too. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble and they are so very helpful. The room was superb and the bed to die for! We found the restaurants brilliant and the food very good quality and lots of choice, breakfast was superb, especially being able to eat outside in Olives and Celebrities with fantastic views. We loved the Roof top bar in the arabian court. The private beach was beautiful. We did have a meal at The one and only Palm as we took advice from others that this was well worth the extra but although the views were amazing and it was a lovely boat ride from the Jetty, the actual food we found to be a little over rated. All that is left to say is have a fantastic time! you won't be disappointed.

I should know the rule by know: expectations are rarely met especially if you set them high way above the standard. That’s what I expected the O&O to be: a hotel way above the regular four or five star hotels and I was wrong.

The pros:
Medium sized nicely appointed room, good sized bathroom with shower and tub with all amenities you would expect. Nice balcony with a partial view. Very beautiful common areas although the place is very big so there is a lot of walking to and fro. Nice pool and beach. Good supply of complimentary mineral water in the room.

The cons
There was a sandstorm while we were there and the balcony was not cleaned once.
The hotel has a lot of staff but mostly untrained so there is a lot of buzz but service lacks. In the seven mornings we had breakfast there something was always missing: either the cutlery, or the napkin or the order didn’t get through.
Evening service – we were on half board- was better because you helped yourself.

The ugly:
It is not the five star you expect, more like a Canary Island five star hotel. Huge place attending too many guests to have a service up to the luxury standard they claim.

Lots of wild, unattended kids who brought the sand from the beach to the pool and made a mess out of it. If you want some peace there is an adult only area, a circular piece of grassy space away from the pool but not enough to avoid the screaming! This keeps on at breakfast and dinner: a nightmare!

The pool and beach chair mattresses were incredibly dirty and torn, awful to sit on them even with a towel on them, shameful!

The breakfast was served on mats, on a cleanish table and they made you wait for such a table! The food was mediocre at best, I never ate raw vegetables or fruit, only used mineral water to drink and wash my teeth but I got a terrible stomachache on the second night which lasted a day and left me weak for other two, spoiling my vacation. Fortunately my sister is a doctor so I didn’t have to go to the hospital. I do not know what it was but I think they should look into it considering the many previous reviews reporting the same problem.

Last but not least the live singer at dinner. Please, don’t!
On departure not even a sour goodbye.

P.S. One piece of advice: do not use their internet service it's incredibly expensive. Buy a simcard at the Etisalat kiosk in the Emirates Terminal it's way cheaper!

No way I will ever go back there!

Room Tip: Ask for high floor, ground is roaming with children!

Just back from a twelve night trip to Dubai with the last five nights being at the hotel. The hotel was very clean with staff that fell over themselves to help you. Check in was relaxed as you were taken to a comfortable lounge rather than standing at the checkin desk. By the time this was completed and we were shown to our room our bags were already there. The pool is huge, well spaced out, with plenty of sun beds. The poolside bar served salads and sandwiches throughout the day and had all hot and cold drinks that were reasonably priced. We booked bed and breakfast and were given 155 dhs towards our evening meal that could be used in restaurants in the Palace, Arabian Court and even the sister hotel on the Palm. Food was great and you could if you wished to stay within the allowance given. A must though is the Beach bar and Grill that served the most fantastic prawns. There is also a Beach bar that was great to chill out in while the sun went down.
The rooms were very spacious and clean and attended to at least twice a day. Fresh flowers and fruit left in the room every couple of days or so.

The drink prices are high if you compare them to the UK but they were no more than any other bar or restaurant in Dubai. In fact they were cheaper than some of the other hotels nearby!!

There is a free shuttle bus to the nearby shopping mall and a free boat if you fancy going to the sister hotel on the Palm.

All in all it is a great hotel and one that we will be going back to in the near future

You will probably think that was a rather "bland" title, I don't mean it to be, but having just left the Maldives it doesnt really have the same wow factor. Having said that for a city hotel it is very very good. As we were only staying a few nights on our homeward journey it suited us very well.
To start, our check in was a bit or a chore and took far longer than we would have liked as the lady receptionist wanted to give us all the info on which restaurants we could use on our HB plan ( really we just wanted to get in our room ) then went away for ages & kept us waiting so long that we went back to reception and finally booked in. Having said that this was the only a small hick-up !
Our first room was a litte on the dark side so we changed and were very happy in a bright & sunny room on the 5th floor looking out to the beach. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities excellent; hairdryer, safe etc., (I do agree with previous reviewers that other guests could be clearly heard passing by outside the room).

There were a couple of down points firstly the cost of the mini bar, which we normally are quite happy to use, were astronomical - £5 for and small packet of crisps !!! Bottle of white wine worked out about £50 , so be warned! The 2nd point, you had to pay for Wii Fii - which seems ridiculous as these days even B&B,s offer this free! Finally, the food at the main buffet restaurant (Olives) was a bit ordinary - possibly the Al la Carte was better, although the food at The Rotisserie at The Arabian Court (an alternative eating option) was good although a bit of a walk to get there but it's possible we went the long way round!! The Celebrities Restaurant did excellent breakfasts and we choose to eat there rather than Olives.

The pool area had plenty of loungers and was a very nice place to wile away the the day, the pool bar was lively and a hub of activity. The staff were friendly and astonishingly some knew our name even before they knew our room number ??

Our stay was too short to go out and about but as we have been to Dubai before it was'nt a problem - although had we stayed on different days we would have gone to the new Meydan Race Course which are only open to view on certain days.

We ventured out to the BARISTA Bar & Snacks, which is just down the road from the hotel ( turn left outside the hotel entrance and walk along the grass verge till you get to the Marina entrance and it's just along on the right) which is a really buzzing place to people watch and have a drink (I don't think alchohol is'nt available in any shops only hotels an bars). There's also a supermarket opposite Marina entrance.

Finally I would recommend The One & Only but would'nt want to stay for too long, but that's my personal opinion.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room first.
