“Another great holiday.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2012

A great hotel with lots to do with the family. The guys at the Captains bar are superb, both the bar staff, waiters and Chef who cooks a superb steak down by the beach. Love the new mini golf and Watercooled centre. When the weather is deemed no good for a booked sailing session a message to the room would be good. Managed to eat in the White Orchid this year... just superb and as usual a great dinner in La Traviata! Thanks to all the staff (again)... a fun filled superb family holiday, I even had a Birthday cake left in the room.

We were there from 5th to 15th June and had a brilliant holiday. The garden room we booked was a bit disappointing in that we couldn't use the balcony but the hotel moved us to a seaview room the next day which was great. We were on an all-inclusive basis and made full use of all the restaurants and bars. White Orchid was difficult to get into but worth the wait. Least favourite was Divas, but that was only because I'm not a seafood fan. Shooters and the Sportsbar are great food too. Nightlife is pretty sedate but we knew that before we arrived.
The beach is lovely but we preferred the beds on the grass. Plenty beds and umbrellas to go round and the beach staff made sure we were comfortable in 41deg heat!
The staff are all very nice and go out of their way to help from the General Manager, Restaurant staff, Housekeeping, Barstaff and Beach and Pool teams.
W
There is work going on at the Palm Tree Court which was starting when we were there.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are lovely.

I stayed here with the family in July 2011 as part of a twin centre with the Hilton at Ras al Khaimah. We did also spend the day at the excellent One and Only on the Palm.
Our first impression was that it was remote being 25 minutes outside of Dubai and it felt like we were going into a very industrial area.

On arriving the check-in service was quick and the rules of the All Inc plan was explained. We went to lunch in the Palm Tree court restaurant, but it felt like a low rent buffet experience, although the food was OK.

We went to the main pool to find it was small and sunbeds in the shade were very limited and no chance if you get there in the afternoon - you needed to have your towels on chairs before 8.00 and personally I don't like doing this, but with 2 children they can’t take Dubai sun in July all day. The pool did have a shaded area and small pool for children and it suited our 5 year old.

For day 2 we switched our lunch experience to the beach bar and grill. Food was good and they had huge fans blowing a water mist over everything. It was refreshing and nice to be eating out which isn’t that easy in the Dubai summer.

The resort has scale, a good beach and a very nice beach bar with sofas and peacocks.

The rooms had been updated, but they were still very dated and small by Dubai standards. We had leaky aircon in both the rooms we had.

Staff were fine, but not engaging.

Overall the hotel felt like an Almond 4 star Caribbean hotel, but with much better food. The food in all restaurants and the main buffet was very good and excellent value as part of the all inc plan. The drinks etc were all good with Premium brands being included.

I have to give the hotel a rating of 3 stars (Average) its by no means bad. If you are on a tight budget it’s a good hotel, but please don't go thinking this is Dubai at its best or that the resort is 5 stars because it’s a 45 year old hotel and it feels that way. Go thinking its good value (if you get the right deal) with good food and drinks and you will be fine.

Liked - Food and Drink in all areas except Palm Tree pool buffet.
Didn't like - Age of hotel, small pools with too few shaded sunbeds.

Dear wg284,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on TripAdvisor following your stay with us last year at Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa.

I would firstly like to thank you for your very detailed feedback, and I was pleased to read that you found it refreshing dining outside with the water mist fans. I would also like to thank you for you kind words generally about the food and beverage across the resort as well as the beaches.

We appreciate all feedback which allows us to continually improve our products and services, and as such I appreciate your comments in relation to the quality and selection of the buffet restaurants, as well as the availability of the sunbeds. I was also disappointed to read that you found the associates not to be engaging. It is very important to us that all our associates are warm, friendly and engaging and I would like to sincerely apologise if this was not the case during every interaction with our associates.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor, and we look forward to personally welcoming you back to Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa in the near future.

The hotel grounds are attractive with the added bonus of the peacocks. The beach and pool areas are very nice. If you are on the beach some of the waiter/waitress service is not as good as other resorts. The restaurants are ok but a little limited and on the expensive side. Rooms are comfortable and well presented and the staff in the hotel especially the cleaners are excellent. The resort is a bit out on a limb. Don't let this put you off. If you order a taxi from the concierge make sure it's not a hotel taxi. They charge 100 aed into Dubai (jumeriah beach/Marina walk). Ask for a public taxi costs around 60 aed. Takes about 20 min to get into Dubai. Overall a nice resort with plenty activities which are on the pricey side. We are beach bums so were not too bothered. Been to a number of places in Dubai and although not our favourite it was still a relaxing nice place to spend a nine day break.

We chose to stay at the Jebel Ali as the first part of a two centre holiday to Dubai. We chose this hotel as we thought it looked good for a relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai, and thats exactly what we got. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and well looked after. Our room was large and clean, with a terrace. We were on the all inclusive option which we felt offered excellent value for money without out scrimping on the quality of food. Our favourite restaurants were Shooters for excellent steak, and The White Orchid. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful.
Just a couple of small negatives, we arrived early on a Friday morning after a night flight and very little sleep, I was aware that our room might not be ready until check in at 3pm and although we were allowed to use the hotel facilities I felt this was a wasted day as we were so tired we ended up asleep in reception. Also we had initial difficulty booking the a la carte restaurants as we were told they were mostly fully booked when we arrived. After a heated discussion with the manager he very kindly managed to fit us in as requested. If we had known this before we would've booked in advance. Friday at the hotel was a lot busier than the other days, presumably with day guests, which spoilt the relaxing atmosphere a little.
I would however highly recommed this hotel, we would like to return once the building work has finished on Palm Tree Court as feel the hotel would have even more to offer then.
