The Sheikh Zayed Road is the main artery of the city taking most of the traffic coming from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah cities. This road is part of E11 highway, longest in UAE, stretches from Al-Silah in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and ends in Ras al-Khaimah emirate, running roughly parallel to UAE's coastline along the Persian Gulf. E11 is called by different names in all Emirates. The road in Dubai is named after the then president of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The Sheikh Zayed Road is home to most of city's skyscrapers and is the main commercial hub. I will recommend driving on this seven to eight lanes road in the evening to have best feel with high rise buildings, restaurants, shopping centres, Dubai Red Metro etc. As told, it is very very crowded in festival times.
