“Great location unless you want to swim in the pool”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed at the Movenpick for 7 nights and had a wonderful time. We upgraded to an Executive floor room and this proved to be a wise choice as it provided complimentary alcahol and hot canapes every evening. With the cost of alcohol in the bars in Dubai this saved us a considerable amount. The staff in the Executive Lounge were brilliant and very friendly and could not be more helpful. Breakfast is great with chefs there to cook your eggs any way you like. The Executive rooms are very nice although the view is not brilliant - you can see the sea but from the side of the hotel. (Suites and Exec Lounge have the sea facing views). The swimming pool looked lovely but due to its location it gets no sun (in the winter anyway) until around 4.00 so it was too cold to use it. The Sports Bar is great if you want to watch sport but if you do not wish to sit with smokers you will not enjoy the experience. Happy Hour each evening reduces some prices to affordable levels. The location of the hotel is great if you want lots of choice for restaurants and coffee shops as there are loads. The downside of this is that the traffic outside the hotel in the evening is awful - it can take a taxi 20 minutes to do the last half mile - we used to get out of the taxi and walk. If you wish to go to the city to see any the Malls or Burj Khalifi then the Metro is a 15 minute walk away and this is cheaper than a taxi. Expect to have to stand on the metro though - it is very busy.

Room Tip: Book your Burj Khalifa visit before you go to get the time slot you want.

Stayed here for a business meeting for 4 nights.
Breakfast and lunch buffet are great with lots to choose from.
Room average with very low sink, had to kneel almost to brush my teeth.
Room was not cleaned after returning at the end of the day for some colleagues. Wake up call keeps on ringing after you picked it up ( up to 4 times).

Service and technical support during our meetings was good and very helpfull.

Road in front of the hotel is always packed with cars due to the fact that it is on the boulevard.
Day and night you are in a traffic jam.
Would I go back to Dubai, absolutely but not to this hotel.

Stayed here for 10 nights over christmas 2011. The room was to an excellent standard with a beautiful bathroom, huge bed, balcony and sea views. The service was excellent with staff going beyond the call of duty to help make our stay as good as possible. Would love to stay again and highly recommend to other travellers.

My brother was foodpoisoned at this buffet on january 14th of 2012. We had our doubts about the buffet and we ended up complaining to the head waiter and demanding a disount since the quality of food was so increadibly low. The chef service was terrible, however the waiter service was ok.
What makes me set a 2 instead of the 0 the restaurant deserves is the nice ambience of the hotel and the wonderful woman in the concierge who gave us answers to all our questions always with a smile on her face.

stayed here for 3 days in july 2010 en route to hong kong and beyond on a 5 country honeymoon.
Wanted to be in the new area where its exciting and lively, near the beach.
Beach is directly across the road, shops and resteaurants on the door step, rooms clean as you expect with a branded hotel. Hotel was newly opened that time too, so everythin would be newish.
Price was very reasonable for location, plus time of year when its tooooo hot in Dubai, and hotel prices are all much lower than normal.
They gave us a honeymoon upgrade and petals in the room and chocolate.
Breakfast was good, you dont see alot of staff around, so its good to sleep, and be near places of interest and somewhere clean and respectable to stay without breaking the bank.
Nice bathroom which has a openable window frame, too look into the room and vice versa?? - if anyone wants to do that :-)
