“Good Business Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

This Hotel meets all the very high standards that hotels in Dubai have to reach if they want to stay competitive. It is not a resort hotel, a way distant from the main attractions, though not very far from Atlantis/The palm and Mall of Emirates with its famous ski-slope and the excellent Almaz by Momo restaurant. The fast, clean efficient and easy to navigate metro is also nearby, taxis are affordable, so you are not cut-off from anywhere.

My room was excellent: spacious, clean, large picture window. All all the trimmings one expects: bottled water in the bathroom and by the tea/coffee unit, comfortable bed, well - lit work desk, good-sized bathroom, good range of toiletries. Buffet breakfast was the usual mixture of Middle Eastern and Western fare, in a bright room with good service.

Reception and front desk staff were very helpful, charming Sri Lankan houseboys kept me topped up with extra tea bags etc, late night room service waiter refused to take a tip (!!). The small rooftop pool and spa is well maintained, also with helpful staff. Hotel restaurants offer good quality food, if a little over-priced (great views from the Asian).

There is nothing to fault and if I had this sort of hotel experience in London, (or anywhere else in the UK) at these very reasonable rates I would be raving about it.

The Hotel is of modest size by Dubai standards and it is not a luxury/treat hotel, but it does provide all the ammenieties that you might expect in a luxury establishment.

Room Tip: Good views on the higher floors

It's on sheikh zayeed road and the nearest metro stop is media city, which is just 5 mins walk. You get to travel throughout the city just by metro which is very convenient.

I booked for a single room and they upgraded me to a one bedroom apartment which was on 12th floor and had fabulous views of the city. The apartment was spacious with a fully equipped kitchen and a tastefully decorated living room.

The breakfast was very generous at the atrium cafe. The only negative bit is the 500 dirham deposit they keep which is refundable. Change some currency at the airport for this as the nearest banks all cose by 2pm, local time and the hotel gives very bad exchange rate, which i discovered.

Booked in for early arrival, checked 2 days before verbal confirmation that it would be ok, arrived at 07.00 told by arrogant, unhelpful front desk manager that I had not confirmed early check and because I had no paperwork (booked on line) and had not asked for the name of the person who I spoke to, that he had nothing available and could not ( would not) help me.
Suffice to say after a 10 hour flight and 7 hour time change this led to some heated exchanges.
After some discussions he finally offered me a room if I paid for an extra night!!! and said he couldnt do anything for me. ( which he seemed to relish)
Spent next hours and half sitting in reception being looked at and ignored by the duo on the desk.
At around 8.30 the day staff took over, and then everything changed.
Talk about chalk and cheese. I asked the staff when my room would ready they said within 30 minutes, brought me a cup of coffee and within 15 minutes I was in my room.
Room was comfortable and well set up ( if possibly looking a little tired)
Rest of stay three days was good with the most helpful people being the door staff who couldn’t do enough to help and the team in the Belgian cafe who were really good.
Unfortunately I had to check out early in the morning and guess what the miserable duo were back on the job again. They tried to charge me for extras which I didn’t have , chopped down half a forest to make paper and to get me to sign for the fact that they had made a mistake , justified by saying they were frightened of the accounts department and guess what ? Yes no thank you for staying no feedback forms available and total disinterest in me as a customer!!!
Great hotel and good place to stay, shame about the dynamic duo on the front desk at nights

Room Tip: Try to go for a club room on teh 12th or 13th floors

We had a four day stopover here from Maldives. We got an early booking offer which was very good value for b&b.
The hotel itself is of a very good standard. Aimed at business travellers rather than tourists for whom it is a little far out from the city centre. It is convenient for the Mall of the Emirates to which there is a shuttle bus and the metro is a couple of hundred yards away.
The superior room was very comfortable and well equipped and buffet breakfast selection excellent.
The rooftop pool and spa was very welcome at end of a day exploring.
If returning to Dubai as tourists we would seek a hotel nearer the city centre next time.

The room is really good; bed is really comfortable, and you have a wide selection of pillows to choose from! The view is breathtaking from the glass windows; it doesn't overlook the sea directly but you don't have buildings blocking the view either. Staff are really competent and very helpful. Breakfast buffet offers a wide selection of food that suit almost every need. I am however, inclined to try more sea-nearby hotels next time. But All in all, Grand Millennium offers excellent value for money since hotels nearby the sea or attractions that offer the value and service of Grand Millennium are usually quite more expensive.
