This place is perfection in eating out. Set in the most beautiful city in SE Asia, their fairly short menu, French overall, has exquisite dishes from Vietnam, Laos and Thailand as well. The manager is French and his Laos staff are very professional and utterly charming. You can sit inside the restaurant, outside on the terrace or across the road on another terrace, next to the river. In the evening it is cool and relaxing, The building and the furnishings are beautiful and drinks are interesting and inexpensive. Try the Curry Ga from Vietnam and from the desserts cafe liegeois from Belgium ( a wonderful coffee ice cream dish with cold espresso, cream and roasted almonds). At lunchtime the croquemonsieur is the best I have ever eaten. Value for money is excellent here and overall it is a delightful place to spend an evening.

It's a very beautiful and peaceful place, directly at the Nam Khan river, just a little off from the main action. Very friendly and attentive service, sophisticated ambience and very reasonable prices for refined drinks and a good mix of European and Laotian dishes. You can choose between two terraces – both provide for a nice cocktail or more. A place where you always like to return again, also because of his very nice french owner.

Had a cognac and coffee here every night of our 4 night stay in Luang Prabang, ate lunch here most days too - finally and with regret we ate our last dinner in LP here.

The view over the river is good, staff attentive, prices fair, and the food excellent.

Best dish - a Basque Chicken casserole.

I stopped at Sala Cafe for breakfast, as we really loved the terrasse, the view on the Nam Khan river, the distinguished setting and calm atmosphere.
The "a la carte" breakfast is not as extensive as the other good breakfast place ban sene, but all we ordered was vey good and the place is much more relaxing. For coffee lovers, this restaurant have nespresso cafes!
I wish I had discovered this place before to try out the lunch/diner... the menu looked inspiring to me!
