Sadly, there is not enough made of this temple. Information is scarce, and it looks unwelcoming. Was going to go in, but nobody there to take the entrance fee.

Most people visit pula for the amphitheatre, but if you visit Pula, you should even visit the temple of Augustus. There is no entrance fee and can be visited anytime and its right on the main square. I did not find any description of the temple of Augustus anywhere close to the site and thought it was a roman forum until i saw it on the map.

Didn't know that there were such interesting roman structures in Croatia. (Nice surprise). Part of a DIY tour.

This is a beautiful historic building on the edge of a square in Pula. We didn't set put to find it but came upon it purely by chance. There are some lovely art shops and cafe bars in the vicinity.

You can walk to this building from the amphitheater faster by going down to the waterfront and around the road, than by going straight over the hill through the ancient parts of town, however, the most scenic route would be through the little streets and alleys in the ancient part of town.
This is the oldest preserved building in Croatia and it was built in what was then the Forum of Pula during the reign ofthe first Augustus and is one of the best examples of early Imperial Roman Temple architecture being rectangular with a portico with for Corinthian columns and one extra on each side freezes and a dedication to the emperor. As with most Roman buildings it was ultimately transformed into a church which brings great sadness too many of us. And then, because of fire, natural disasters, and wor, a lot of the building was destroyed but it was reconstructed after World War II. Just off the waterfront it is worth walking over to to see.
