“Quiet location with million dollar views”
Reviewed 25 October 2011 for a stay in September 2011

My friend & I stayed in Apartment Monika for 3 nights & were sorry to leave this wonderful spot. The house is the best part of 25 mins walk to the old town, but it probably took us longer as we kept stopping to admire the view & take photos. The apartment was simply furnished, spotlessly clean & equipped with everything the average person would need. I found the bed very hard & didn't sleep especially well, but I struggled with most of the beds this trip so I think Europeans must prefer firmer beds. The real bonus was the wonderful balcony, covered with grape & kiwifruit vines & furnished with table & chairs - the most perfect spot to sit each morning & evening & gaze at the view, be it of the Old Town or any of the cruise liners & yachts that moored in front of "our" house.
Maja is an excellent hostess, with very good English & is helpful without being intrusive.
She & her husband & family also live in this magnificent villa which has been in their family for over 100 years.
There are lots of steps in Dubrovnik (not quite as many as Santorini!) & House Kirigin is one of the guesthouses with easier access, something older travellers may need to take into consideration. There is a very good restaurant at the end of the road, down 300+ steps, right on the beach & the Old Town is full of cafes & restaurants with reasonably priced meals. Allow more than the suggested 1.5 hours to walk the city walls. There is so much to see & fabulous views all the way round, but be sure to take water with you as it can get blisteringly hot up there. A small cafe (with toilet) is situated halfway around & it's a welcome chance to sit down in the shade & have a glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice.
Three days really wasn't enough time to explore this glorious city & I hope to return sometime; if I do, I will certainly stay at House Kirigin again & have no hesitation recommending this to other TA travellers.

Beautiful , quiet location with a picture postcard view of the Old City of Dubrovnik. It was also facing the island of Lokrum - worth a visit. Small cruise ships anchored in the bay between the apartment and Lokrum. Provided something of interest every day.
The beach was a five minute walk away with the only downside being the number of steps down to it.
The nearest supermarket and bakery were a 15 - 20 minute walk away directly beside the Ploce Gate. It took a bit longer to come back because it was more steep. The big bonus was that the only steps were from the road up to the apartment.
Would return to the same rental without reservation.
