What an amazing place to stay in the heart of The Palace. The service at the Heritage Hotel was amazing. From the minute we got off the plane, they sent a driver to pick us up, who was really nice and polite. Then when he dropped us off, someone else met us at the Palace walls and walked us to the hotel and carried our bags. We ended up getting what seemed to be the best room in the hotel, which was on the top floor overlooking the bell tower and palace square. The bell tower did chime through out the day and there was music and crowd noise from the square, but we enjoyed that. It felt so lively in our room. If you did need quite, you could close the shutters and that pretty much eliminated all the noise. The staff was so nice and extremely helpful. They even bought ferry tickets to Dubrovnik for us for our last day and even packed us a lunch for the ferry ride! Overall just amazing. Great staff, great service, perfect location.

There was a cuppachino machine just outside our room which is free to use for guests. It was so nice we just booked the same hotel for next year.

What an incredible and truly unique property! My husband and I felt so fortunate to actually stay the night within the walls of the Diocletian Place!
Our stay began with the nicest guy named Dom meeting us at the Ferry. He then took our obscene amount of American luggage and expertly navigated the crowded palace corridors and steps leading us to the wonderful Heritage Hotel. He was so kind and offered all sorts of insight and history to his beloved hometown. In fact, he said that his family had lived in Split for 900 years! Incredible!!!
Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink and given the key to our lovely room perched high in the sky with an extraordinary view of the palace below! The oldest cathedral and bell tower was poised perfectly out our windows! The view couldn't be better or more unique! We will never forget it! The entire staff was so gracious and Marko told us all there was to do and see during our stay. Wonderful recommendations for dinner. The Baked Cheese was incredible at the restaurant just outside the hotel! We spent the day and night touring the magnificent town of Split. What a remarkable place! Our favorite memory was sitting out by the square until very late and night, listening to the live music while people danced and sang, all the while knowing we would have a dreamy night's sleep in our beautiful, cozy room! Thank you to the entire family at the Heritage for making our visit to Split so memorable!!!

We often find that, of all the great experiences on a trip, one always stands above the others. That was our experience at the Heritage Antique. The room, the service, the location, the ambiance, the view -- everything was superlative. We were given a room with a view directly into the square in from of Diocletian's Palace -- breathtaking. The location is in the heart of everything in the old city; not more than few blocks to anything you want to see, and tons of great restaurants. In fact, Portofino, which is in the courtyard of the hotel, is excellent.

But, without a doubt, the thing that separates this hotel from all others is the service. Vana was the kindest, nicest, funniest, most attentive person we've ever come across, and we've come across many great people in our travels. And her staff were equally good. Always had great suggestions for restaurants, places to see, directions, absolutely anything we needed. The breakfasts and the snacks at the hotel were perfect. And though it's up stairs, staff took care of all the bags and anything else we needed, so that you hardly noticed.

One word of advice. Hotels such as the Heritage Antique, that are in the old city, cannot be reached by car. So if you are driving, let the staff know ahead of time and call them when you are close to the hotel and can park the car. They will come to you, grab all the bags and take them to the hotel, and arrange the parking so you don't have to worry about it. Just don't expect to be able t to drive up and have a porter take the care from you.

I can't imagine staying anywhere in Split other than the Heritage Antique. As I said, a highlight of our trip.

Room Tip: Surprisingly quiet given it's location next to Diocletian's Palace and everything else.

We spent 3 nights in this small “jewel” of a hotel as we traveled through Croatia. The room was exquisite with some sections of the walls from the 4th Century AD. The location is in the heart of the ancient Diocletian Palace. With only 8 rooms and a friendly, available and helpful staff, we highly recommend this hotel
