“Very nice, clean, comfortable place with good staff”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

This hotel deserves at least a 4 to our mind and we'd have given it a 5 except for a couple of things.

The pluses: Very clean with large, nicely appointed rooms and a good bathroom, and the external sink makes it possible for two people to use the facilities. Flat screen 37" TV with multiple HBO channels. Nice writing desk, drawers and other furniture. Cheerful, helpful and efficient staff, and good housekeeping. Good toiletries including largish soaps, shampoo, shower caps etc. Nice indoor swimming pool with a fairly well equipped gym adjacent to it that included free weights, a multiple exercise machine, exercise balls, mats and several cardio machines (treadmills, elliptical trainer, stationary bike.) Free WiFi in rooms and premises though we didn't use it. It's close to the highway though the approach road is fairly long at a third of a mile or so. Our room (among many others) had a little balcony though it was cold and not the time of year for us to step outside.)

What could be better: The beds were decent but could have been firmer with more supportive mattresses. No fridge (they said it was available on request subject to availability) or microwave. No free breakfast (the buffet breakfast in the restaurant was good but offered for a pricey $17.)

The windowsBut all in all the pros far outweighed the cons and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Our room on the 3rd floor (305) was quiet. It overlooked a parking lot but the view wasn't bad...

This Wyndham property is a hidden gem when in or near Boston. The regular rate of $129 was cheap by Boston standards, so when I got a company rate of $91 it was almost like stealing! The proprty is impeccably clean, the service is among the lines of t=some of the best 5 star hotels I have stayed in throughout the world.

Just walking into the lobby I knew the property exceeded my expectation before checking in. My standard king Size bed room was more than ample in size. Bathroom was of average size, but no worn or dated appliances. Free wireless connected easier than any other hotel I have stayed in.

There is a nice restaurant on the premise called "On the Bone" with an adjoining bar where they will serve from the menu of the restaurant. Plenty of TV's to watch, and it became more enjoyable when I saw the Pats lose to the Giants.

The exercise center actually can host more than 2 people in it at once, unlike most other hotels where the exercise center is an unused 10x10 closet.. glass walls in exercise center have a view of the nice sized pool and hot tub.

If you have business in Downtown Boston there is a T stop nearby, also the hotel will provide shuttle service to nearby business that host training classes.

Breakfast buffet is a bargain, but make sure it is included in your room rate. I upgraded my room rate to another type with the front desk for an additional $8 bringing the total to $99 ( before Taxachusetts taxes). Otherwiise the charge is $156 for breakfast.. its resonable at$8 but overpriced at $16

At the buffet there is a gentleman who is the short order cook (sorry didnt catch his name). he is originality from the Dominican Republic.. best egg, ommeleltte guy around . It's a pleasure t watch him do 4- 6 orders at a time with out effort and always with a smile!

For our environmentally conscious GREEN friends, the hotel has several programs in place to help with being a Green place to stay

Room Tip: Add the buufet into your room rate

Thank you so much for your review of the Wyndham Andover Hotel. Hidden Gem! We love it. We pride ourselves on our service and cleanliness. You recognized so many areas of our hotel. We feel the fitness area is so important to our travelers. We made some changes to enlarge that space. You commented on the morning cook, Alfredo. He is awesome! He has been making omelets for our guests for 25 years. When he is not there, our guests always ask, "Where is Alfredo?" Finally, thank you for noticing our Green programs. We hope to see you again when you return to Andover.

This hotel is, in my opinion, a hidden gem. The property is impeccable, the hotel and room were spotless. Everyone that I had interacted with from check-in, room service, restaurant and check-out were friendly, polite and SUPER QUICK. No delays or dilly dallying.

The room (suite) was gorgeous and the food from the restaurant (On The Bone) delicious - I highly recommend the Lobster Pie, I'm still drooling.

You can't beat the location, as it's right off the highway - yet I found if very quiet. It's a 20-25 minute ride into Boston and minutes from the NH border. I'm already planning my next retreat and look forward to my stay.

Room Tip: Corner suite was ample and bright.

My family stays at this hotel several times a year while visiting my daughter, who attends school in the area. We have never been disappointed. The staff is outstanding and the hotel is always spotless. We always look forward to our stays here.

Room Tip: Suites are very spacious!
