Beer, awesome queso... We go for lunch. It can be daunting to try to get a seat in the evening. The owner is awesome. We know the staff at lunch and they are knowledgeable. It is all good!

You'll be luck to find a place in their parking lot unless you come early. The popularity of the place apparently stems from its reputation as a moderately priced watering hole. While you are waiting for a table or booth better have a drink, the place will look better and the food may pass as Mexican after a couple. Personally I found it too crowded, too dark and the food was just so-so.

We have eaten here about 6 times in the past year or so.
Never disappointed. Food is excellent, reasonably priced, and service is friendly and responsive. Only drawback is that it is so popular that there are long waits at peak times.

This convinces me that folks in the valley will eat anything, hence the abundance of bad restaurants. This stands out as one of the worst.
Chile rellenos (which I have eaten often and also cooked (Diane Kennedy is the bible)) was soft and floppy on the outside (the chile) and looked nothing like the firm green jalapenos you can buy anywhere. The filing which should have been mainly melted Mexican cheese, was a grey and gooey mass that must have come out of a food processor. And anyone who can peel and pit an avocado, knows what ripe tomato is, and can do a few minutes of pounding can make a better guacamole.
I though the Mi Tierra on Rte 9 was bottom, but Mission Cantina is low bottom.

Not so friendly is how I would characterize this place, and I don't excuse "busy-ness" for that. It may be popular but the three times I have eaten here I have felt the same. Attentive and kind service is important to me. Nonetheless the food is good.
Personally I would cross the street, seek out, and patronize the other spot that has truly authentic Central American food and is owned by authentic, down-to-earth folk.
