“Very little to see during renovation”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2012

Only the first floor was open, and the surly guards jerked a finger toward the meagre self-guided tour area and mumbled that that's all there was. Too bad there wasn't more information on such a historic building, but they're undergoing a renovation, so perhaps once it's finished there will be more cheerful and informative guides to help people understand the state house's role in Maryland (and U.S.) history.

“One of the Most Historic Buildings in United States”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2012

We visited Old Senate Chamber where George Washington resigned his commission in this building in 1783. If you're into visiting historic site, visiting this small but well preserved Old Senate Chamber will not disappoint you.

“Beautiful architecture”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

If you like history and architecture, don't miss this gem. The grand staircase and the dome are amazing. If the senate is in session, you can sit in and watch from the balcony.

“First stop in a tour of historic Annapolis”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2012

I didn't have a lot of time to spend in Annapolis, but I parked in one of the garages off of Main Street ($2 an hour during the day, and some restaurants validate parking) and walked around the historic area. I really enjoyed seeing the State House and learning about the history. It is an easy area to walk around, the grounds are beautiful, and it's educational as well! The State House is right next to the govenor's mansion, the Thurgood Marshall Memorial, St. Johns College, and Main Street itself which has a lot of shops and restaurants.
