Put Rene’ Cafe on your list to visit! This is a hidden gem right across from the square. This is a quaint open kitchen restaurant. The food is authentic local dishes at amazing low prices! The air conditioner is a plus too! Say hi to the lounging cats on your way in. ❤️

We shared the pre-fix dinner & a bottle of wine and it was by far the best meal we ate during our 3 weeks in the country. The owner a staff were a joy to spend the evening with.

This place is simple excellent and a great value, especially at lunch with a lovely little three courses for $10 ((dinner is $25), it’s not fancy but the food is well prepared, well served and very friendly at a great price. Do yourself a favor and check it out, so little here in Casco Viejo seems an excellent value but this is.

This restaurant is located on a corner at Cathedral Square. Other descriptions made me think it was going to be nicer inside but it was still pleasant, definitely a mom & pop feeling. We were the first to arrive for lunch but soon two other tables were occupied, these with cruise passengers on an excursion from Colon. Our ship was in Fuerte Amador and we came here independently. The food was very good tasting and plentiful. We had beer, bread with pesto butter, salad, rice, fish, pork and brownie for $10 each.

Wow. This place knocked our socks off. First, this isn’t Michelin-starred dining, so don’t expect a list of imported clarets to go with your meal. That said, this was the best deal on Casco Viejo. Get the Pasco Sour for $4, bears happy hour prices all over town and that was the best cocktail I had all week. More food than I could finish for $20 and a smaller option for just $10. Going back tomorrow.
