We have been on several Grayline Tours around the world and I must say, that this one was the most enjoyable of them all. We took the "Classic Nicaragua with Colonial Granada Tour". Our tour guide, Ms. Diana Izaguirre, was a very pleasant guide with an out-going personality. She was prompt. She came to pick us up at the Princess Managua Hilton Hotel in Managua 5 minutes ahead of the scheduled pick-up. We went to the Masaya National Park, the Museum and the Masaya Volcano. Going up the crater was a breeze since the tour van took us up there. We had an efficient driver, Frank. We went to the market in Granada and had lunch nearby. We had the chance to see the colorful little town of Catarina, where we stopped to buy some fruit and see plants & flowers. Our lunch was excellent - complete with salad, entree (I had grilled sea bass with veggies & my husband had gilled steak en brochette) plus soft drinks and dessert (ice cream) included in the tour price. After lunch, we took a cruise of the "Isletas de Granada", the 300+islets formed after the eruption of Mombacho Volcano over 20,000 years ago. The islets were rich in exotic fauna and colorful birds. On our way back to the hotel, we had a chance to see the park in Managua, the Royal Palace and other government buildings including a big cathedral that was damaged in the big earthquake of december 1972. Had we gone on a tour on our own, I doubt if we would have seen half of what we saw that day. The other couple with us were reserved and did not say much during the tour but my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. All entrance fees to the attractions ,lunch and the cruise fee were all included in our tour fee. We would like to thank our tour guide, Ms. Diana Izaguirre. We highly recommend her. She was organized, knowledgeable, friendly and spoke excellent English.
She is an asset to Gray Line Tours.
