This is my 3rd stay here and consistently the staff has been wonderful. Courteous, helpful and eager to offer suggestions from which sites to visit first to shopping locations. They are knowledgeable and professional. BUT for the 3rd time my room request has been completely ignored. Using SPG suite upgrade credits resulted in a 2nd floor room (the hotel has 4 floors) with a view of a metal roof. On this trip I specifically requested a pool view and of course I have a room facing the hotel entrance (the opposite view). The hotel staff said all pool side rooms were booked. As a "Platinum 75" I am used to SPG treatment that generally honors requests like these. But for the 3rd time (twice this year) requests have been ignored even when I spoke with my SPG Platinum Concierge and hotel management. I am inclined to stay at the Intercontinental on my next stay in San Salvador but this friendly staff may get me to come back. By the way, the hotel could use some paint and is showing its age but is clean and generally comfortable AND very safe. The breakfast buffet is standard but usually includes a "breakfast sausage" we dub a mystery meat. Ordering from the menu costs more but has resulted in better choices.

Family of six spent five days in three rooms in July 2017. Rates are reasonable, rooms are clean, and the buffet brunch is very good. The grounds are well kept and very pretty and the pool is gorgeous. Wifi in the rooms was a little spotty but it is a third-world country after all. Most important, the hotel felt SAFE!

Room tip: Pay a little more for a balcony room with a view.

The rooms are very clean, the service is excellent, the view from the city is unique especially at the night. It is located in an area that is close to the museum which can enjoy during the day. The food is delicious and there is a pool that can be enjoyed after a tiring day. a really nice experience

I stayed at the Shearaton Presidente for 6 nights in May 2017 for business. It is getting a bit worn around the edges, but they are slowly working to keep it up to date.

On the positives: Wifi was great - everywhere. Service was very good. Breakfast buffet was very fresh and they cooked eggs to style and of course made fresh pupusa constantly.

Needing help: Everything needed a fresh coat of paint. They were redoing the two rooms across from mine, so this is in progress. Common rooms/Bar/Restaurant were all up to date, but needed fresh paint and new carpet.

Overall a safe (for San Salvador) and good value place for travelers looking for a typical international stay.
