The staff was super friendly and very helpful! We loved that when we arrived very early in the morning that we could check- inn right away (small fee) and they also offer great deals for a late check-out too! It's older yes, but the rooms are very spacious, clean and have everything you need and the price is right :) They also have usb sticks with movies and series to use for free. They have different options for wifi but its payable..
Go there if you need something good for a reasonable price!

Kia Orana Tri90,

Many thanks for such a honest review. We are budget accommodation but we have been updating the premises for a while now so next time that you come it's going to be even better!

Many thanks for recommending our hotel to everyone and we look forward to have you here again soon.

An absolute horrible hotel - or hostel if you will. Even though its relative cheap compared to the extremely overpriced island, Rarotonga, the hostel is equipped with the oldest furniture I have ever seen to this price. You don't feel clean or comfortable at this place. I have seriously stayed in the cheapest hostels in other parts of the world which offered a WAY higher standard.

Kia Orana Jeppe,

We are very sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience staying with us. The Kiikii Inn & Suites is the oldest private hotel on the island. We have been renovating the whole premises since last year. All the rooms are freshly painted, most of our beds are brand new and our kitchenware/linen as well. We are working hard on bringing it up to standard without loosing our budget pricing which, as you said, is the best deal on the island so far.

We do have Housekeeping service (we have 5 staff in our Housekeeping department) that service the rooms every day. We also just got a set of brand new showers and toilets that are waiting to be installed plus new furniture coming by boat from New Zealand.

We apologize if you felt that your stay with us wasn't worth it. We hope that, if you give us a chance again, you'll find many surprises and improvements around.

We wish you the best, Kia Manuia! (good luck)

We only stayed one night (after a late night flight) and were so glad to leave. Room was damp, musty and mouldy. The ceiling tiles were drooping off the ceiling due to the level of moisture. The walls and all surfaces were damp to touch from condensation.

We didn't look at rest of facilities as we left quickly next morning to next accommodation.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere

Kia Orana Gen_V18,

Thanks for leaving a review for us. We need to double check that you reviewed the right accommodation? None of our rooms have ceiling tiles... and none of our rooms are moldy. In fact, all our rooms are just painted and repaired... We will appreciate if you can tell us in which room did you stay and also your arrival date so we can track down your booking, if you stayed with us at all?

Meitaki Ma'ata for your clarification on this.

We got a bargain when booking at Kiikii. We were looking for new accommodation as we weren't happy with the place we had, got online and booked it. We went straight to pay in person and when we arrived there were no rooms available but they gave us the bungalow for the same price :) We loved our bungalow at Muri a vai. We had beautiful views of the ocean and the bungalow was always cool due to the sea breeze. There's beach access and every now and then you may catch the locals having rugby training lol The bungalows are serviced every 2nd day and the staff are very helpful.

Meitaki Ma'ata, thank you very much Heni for such a lovely review. We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay at our Muriavai Bungalows. For next time don't hesitate to email us or jump online to book. It is a very nice spot, private, beach front and located in a quiet area as well, in Arorangi district, absolutely perfect for a recharging holiday!

Have a nice day and we hope to see you here again soon!

Kiikii is a cheap, self catering option to stay on Rarotonga island. Agree with many other commentators that the place is dated, my room looking like it had been stuck in a time warp since 1977. Rocky beachfront and away from main areas of the island so you will need to have own transport or the hourly bus service to get to towns, attractions and sandy beaches. Staff were polite and able to assist with me any queries and help organise transport.

My biggest gripe (and not the fault of the hotel) is that the location is right under the flight path of the bigger jets who often fly in at night. Being used to a city with a night flight ban I was startled in the night by jet engines roaring overhead around 2.30am, only to then be woken again an hour later by arriving guests dragging their suitcases on the gravel.
