Dream vacation exquisitely done

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 9 Jan 2019via mobile
An epic family vacation, we are 13 it’s not easy to please everyone. Well we did La Baguala is a little well kept secret. It’s a gem overlooking the Rio de La Plata with private beaches and grounds. Spectacular place for a family retreat, wedding, reunion or just a few days to recharge. Service very accommodating everyone gives you their name and love what they do. Brian at the restaurant was super wonderful. Our charming domador/horse trainer Martin was accommodating asking questions about experience and on lines and dislikes of horses. We all bonded with the horse and he made it a spectacular experience. Today we will have Leandro who is supposed to be just as great. Micaela is the receptionist/ arranger she is also accommodating and wonderful. Thank you this was wonderful

The place is beautiful the rooms are good (could do with proper pillows).

The main reason for my review is the appalling situation at the restaurant, the food is absolute rubbish and the service is terrible the staff is absolutely clueless and the head of the restaurant is a pretentious t....t! They can’t get the most essential dishes right and the option is very limited, that’s if you manage to get served... the tables are dirty the restaurant over all a shambles.

Great place for a pic nic (if you bring your own)

The only staff who were up to par were the people in charge of the horses and the riding trips.

Ps:
I am originally from Argentina but have now been living in London for over 15yrs.

Set in beautiful grounds. Isolated beach. Wonderful rooms. Unpretentious restaurant. Horse riding. Amazing pool. Manicured gardens. Attentive staff. Glorious sunset. Birds all over the place. Peaceful

Today I took people visiting the country to have afternoon tea to La Bagula, expecting to give a unique Uruguayan experience. I had to practically beg for service, the brought the pastries (awesome) without plates, I had to get up 3 times to request for missing things (plates, water, sugar).

Also other tables were still dirty from other guests, and remained like that during our complete stay.

On the other hand food products are awesome and locations is fantastic.

Our stay was splendid...a grand room ,good food, and exceptional staff who let us extend our checkout time until the early evening. We lunched at the nearby Bouza Bodega and the following morning walking along the beach, We will be back!

The restaurant is too expensive. It costs around $40. It is a buffet but they serve the remainings from the previous day. For that price they should offer sushi and BBQ, but it is just simple food, old food. They charge you even a jar of plain water.

I also had an issue with the Late Checkout. Checkout time is at noon. I left my room at 12:38 and they charged me a 50% of the cost of the room. I was there for a wedding, they didn't even contemplate it.
