A member of the NH family of hotels. Staff is excellent and attentive. The location good and hotel comfortable. The building itself is showing signs of age and in need of some attention. The NH chain of hotels has been a favorite around the world.

I have been staying at this hotel for about 20 years.
The reasons are always the same... its people and a wonderful view.
I consider these to be the two most important reasons for my choice.
The Hotel in general is very good, it is always in good condition and if there is a problem they solve it quickly
The cleanliness is very good and the rooms are a little small but that makes up for the endless view they have.

Wow.

One of the most ridiculous experiences in over 35 countries and 150 hotel stays in my life.

Arrived at the hotel which looks dated from the outside but I was confident, based on the reviews, that the rooms would be decent as I expected.

Slow check in process but staff fairly friendly. We got to the room which, no exaggeration, was one of the most dated, smoky, disgusting rooms I’ve been given.

Rather than complaining at the end of the stay, I returned to reception and said that the room was horrible and smelt terribly of smoke. I asked if we could be moved to a nicer, newer room. This wasn’t well received but Leonardo (hotel receptionist) said that he would arrange for us to move to a room on the eighth floor. We fetched our things from the first room and waited at reception.

After Leonardo had ignored us for a few minutes, I asked again if we were being moved to a better room. To clarify, by better, I was asking simply for a more modern room that did not smell of smoke and that reflected the photos of the hotel online. At this point, he lost his temper and said that we needed to go and sit and wait. I explained to him that we had a reservation later in the evening and that we needed to check into our new room quickly. He behaved aggressively and with a short temper - telling me that I should basically be grateful that he was moving our room! I explained that, as a customer, we pay for a room of a good standard for the price and that he was not doing us a favour!

He then accused me of ‘harassing him’ about having a better room! There was no element of ‘harassment’ and only Leonardo speaking in a rude and totally unprofessional way. I could not believe what was happening! At this point, I asked to cancel the room as we were going to stay elsewhere. I asked Leonardo for confirmation that the cancellation would be free and he told me ‘he did not have time to write this confirmation’. I explained that it would take him less than a minute and that we could only leave the hotel if we were sure we would not be charged. He begrudgingly provided Brie after demonstrating a further bad attitude.

I am sure that the hotel will reply to this review with a different version of events but, all I can say is, this hotel is seriously dated, in a bad condition, smoky in the room we were given and the attitude of Leonardo was one of the worst and most bizarre I have ever come across.

I am also making a formal complaint to the NH Hotel group, whom I expected better of.

This hotel should never be rated 4 stars. 2 stars is more appropriate. Rooms are very run down and maintenance non-existent. The first thing that hits you when you open the door to your room is a pungent mold smell. And after that it’s all downhill: from the cork from a past guest on the floor of the room to the cockroach that greets you in the bathroom next to some lost hair in the dirty-looking shower. Book yourself a solid three-star and avoid this place.

The hotel is located in the old part of the city-the building appears fine from the outside. The checkin and lobby appeared fine, and in good condition, and our checkin experience was efficient and friendly.
That is where the good impressions ended. The hallway leading to our room had water stained carpets, and were dark and dilapidated. That was just a preview of the overall state of the room. It is pretty clear that the last time the room was refurbished was at least 20 years ago, if not longer. The bed was fortunately quite comfortable, but the state the rest of the room can only be described as well-used and in need of a remodel.
Room service was reasonably efficient, the food was just ok.
The breakfast was so bad that we only ate it once, even though we booked a rate that included breakfast, based on our experience at other NH hotels in Buenos Aires. Scrambled eggs should never be green and dry-and the rest of the offered selections were not good either. It was frankly one of the worst breakfast buffets I have ever experienced.
